My lace capelet made out of….plastic
I was twittering today about how I intended to make a capelet out of that plastic, doily material that Nonna’s generally use to cover their coffee tables.
Well, I did it and it was actually so easy, I think it might have been completely finished in 10 mins. Because it was experimental I didn’t take photos while I was cutting, but I have so much of the fabric(is it actually fabric?) that I can make plenty more so will photograph the process for the next one.
In a nutshell:
I bought the fabric/material(still haven’t decided what it is) from Spotlight.
I folded it and used the template that I did for my circle skirt.
I trimmed the edges.
Done.
I’m going to wear it all winter long!

I saw you tweet about this and was intrigued but completely skeptical I have to admit! But this looks adorable!
that is adorable!!
lovely piece of up-cycled fashion going on right there, well done! Looks great!
again: Love the shoes!
Bless, isn’t that just fabulous!
I’m seeing a lot of Nana-esque fashion out and about at the moment – but yours really hits the nail on the head!
xx
Who knew?
That is really quite adorable! I may just have to try! I’ll let you know if / when I do!!
I *love* your hair here – very whimsical – reminds me of rapunzel. Gorgeous!
It’s lovely, but I have to ask, does it squeak or make any sort of noise (since it is plastic) when you are wearing it? I would love to try to make a vest out of the material.
creative idea!!
I’m fairly adamant this idea is going to start a fashion craze! We’ll all be your caped minions…
brilliant idea!
