Personal styling heaven at Westfield: My day out with Jo Blankfield and your chance to win a $1000 styling session
“Sponsored by Nuff Nang”
I love shopping, but you all know that don’t you? And I didn’t ever consider that I’d need to see a stylist, but when Westfield approached me and asked if I’d like to spend a day shopping and with personal stylist Jo Blankfield my answer was ‘OF COURSE!!’
I was intensely curious about what the experience would be like because I’ve never seen a stylist in a professional sense before. I have plenty of friends in the industry, but could Jo teach me anything new?
Well, she sure could so here is my big day out…
Gorgeous Jo who is so down to earth and open about her own shopping secrets made me feel like we were instantly friends. Sitting down over coffee we talked about what I wanted from the experience, my body shape, her background and what I could look to get out of spending a few hours with a personal stylist.
We deduced:
- I mainly wear vintage and sometimes struggle to buy new ‘trends’
- I’d like to buy some on trend looks as well as some wardrobe staples
- I don’t own a pair of dark denim jeans
- I needed help choosing belts
I’d taken this inspiration board with me to show her how I was looking to update my wardrobe. Jo had ideas instantly on what might suit me and where I could find possible solutions. Let me tell you- I thought I was a good shopper- this woman is incredible!! She was reeling off style codes, brands and stores where I could find the perfect pieces faster than I could gulp down my banana bread.
We honestly could have talked for hours but it struck us that there was shopping to be done so off we strode.
I thought I might like to try the camel trend but with a piece that would last longer than one season. Here I am with my Levi Jeggins from Just Jeans trying on a blazer from Bardot. I umed and ahed and in the end didn’t purchase the jacket, but did spot a D.I.V.I.N.E pony hair leopard clutch that did come home with me.
Next we hit up General Pants where I found my first belt for the day and the perfect white shirt. I would never have picked out this belt for myself but when Jo popped in on I could see how it worked in so many ways.

Still looking for belts we went to Dotti where I picked out this slouchy grey tee and Jo found this thin, red, patent belt for me. Again it was something I probably would have walked past, but once it was on I could see how much it popped against my blue skirt. Both items were promptly purchased and I learnt that thinner belts in block colours were much more flattering for my body shape.
So this is what actually came home with me, and as you can see apart from the accessories I bought largely most of the things I was after.
Lovisa proved the best value for updated accessories and jewellery. I fell in love with this long, bold blue necklace, while the smaller ring and earrings just fit perfectly with what I already owned. I love my accessories, the bigger the better in my view and Jo agreed that this was a great way to express my personality.
I got the boots from Payless Shoes, which is great because it’s a trend I wanted to try without breaking the bank. When I went to Wittner to purchase some winter boots I found these babies and all sensibility went out the window. It did meet Jo’s approval however because of the neutral colour, and the fact that the wood sole and heel would compliment the vintage element of my wardrobe perfectly.
All up even though I like to consider myself a bit of an expert, the experience was fabulous and I learnt so much from Jo. She put me at ease and even carried my shopping bags for me. I could get very used to this!
Not to have all the fun however I have a very special give away to launch…

I need to be styled with Westfield to put an end to those morning ‘what to wear’ melt downs that begin with a cyclone and end in tears and help my very confused waredrobe!
I need to be styled by Westfield because I have a paralysing fear of shopping in malls, and literally will not be able to set foot in one unless I have a stylist-sherpa on hand to guide me through. In fact, winning this is probably the only way I’ll ever get off the computer and go into an actual store. Think of it as converting a lost-cause back from e-commerce.
In a nutshell: my wardrobe needs to graduate. Its time to sass it up. Time to be confident as a woman, accentuate the positive and all that jazz. But as a modern, 20-something who knows what style I like I always struggle to translate that into a confident and chic wardrobe! My dull and lifeless wardrobe options need a style interlude and Lady Melbourne, with Westfield, are just the ladies to help! Plus, what better excuse to reacquaint myself with the greatest Dame of them all: the City of Melbourne.
I DESPERATELY need to see a stylist who can help me create a capsule wardrobe of pieces that can mix and match each other for a multitude of different outfit options.
I feel like I know how to pick pieces that “suit me” but struggle afterwards to create a collection of pieces that “suit each other”.
This is the reason why I have so many clothes but feel like I never have anything to wear!!
I need help!!
Because apparently black is not a colour. And that is all I own.
I need a stylist, because like many women I don’t understand my body shape and getting dressed each morning has become an absolute strugglr and I general ends up with a screaming match with my closet.
Lady Melbourne, I am just like you! I wear gorgeous vintage dresses almost everyday, but am desperate for help on what to wear them with. Namely shoes and cardis/jackets. I need help making my vintage look at it’s best. I am good for belts though . . .
I need to be styled by Westfield because I need help finding “wardrobe staples”. I continue to buy clothes that I can only seem to wear once – it’s such a waste of money! With your styling skills and my shopping skills I’m sure we will make a winning team!
Goodluck Everyone! x
I sooooo need a stylist – I’m currently rocking the crummy mummy trend (jeans and sneakers!!!) and I am in desperated need to be turned into a yummy mummy! My style got lost 7 years ago when I started having babies!
I’m a size 12-16 and completely get frustrated with shopping. So I stick to op shops and end up buying items which either don’t fit perfectly or should live in a dress up box. I need a stylist to keep me focused, calm and who will tell me what looks good on me, not someone who will tell me to get the poka dot high waisted denim shorts just to get me to shut up about them!
I’ve just found out i’m about to become a mum, i’m desperate to wear my burgeoning belly with pride but am constantly resorting to stretchy pants and oversized jumpers. I’d love to know how to wear on-trend clothes but stay comfortable.
I’d love to have the give away because I’m far too thin and I just can’t get myself to look womanly enough. I want to feel beautiful and feminine and I think I’m not making the right choices. Thanks for this post!
I think I need my own Westfield styling session because my uniform of black tops and skirts is getting old. I always shop by myself and often come home with things that don’t work on me and sit in my wardrobe never worn. I’d love to have a professional eye watching me and making sure I don’t make those slip ups.

I need some expert help as my lifestyle (at home with kids) has changed but i am still buying clothes that suit my previous life (working in sydney). so i have some great clothes but getting dressed each day has become more challenging as dressy frocks and heels don’t work so well at the park but i find it hard to choose casual clothes that still look a bit dressy.
I can’t think of a witty entry but I do want to say in response to the photos a) love LOVE the clutch and b) where do you find such great accessories all the time that my friend is a sought after skill. The blue beads are divine. I received today a box in the mail from net-a-porter and the thrill was nothing short of wonderful – nothing beats that shopping thrill!
I’m in dire need of a styling session because every time I even contemplate buying something on trend I rationalise myself out of it because it’s either too expensive, doesn’t suit my shape, won’t last beyond one season, is an off the wall trend etc etc etc – but really this is all motivated by the fact that it’s outside my comfort zone and exposes all kinds of niggly insecurities about my appearance.
Instead I stick to a style of vintage clothing that my friends have dubbed, Afro-American 80s – think Cosby Show meets Xanadu, which means that although my love of bold, quirky prints and eye watering colour expresses part of my personality, it can be limiting in that I am somewhat averse to softer, more seasonal fashion because I don’t think it will suit me.
*Why do you think you need to be styled by Westfield?*
Here are some answers I prepared earlier:
Because last time i went on a shopping spree trucker hats were in fashion.
Because my boyfriend and I often end up wearing the same outfit.
Because I’ve got a whole wardrobe full of “I’ve got nothing to wear”.
I could go on. I know how I’d like to dress, I just don’t know how to.
Help me Westfield and Lady Melbourne. You’re my only hope.
When I read l fashion magazines and blogs like yours I always see so many outfits I’d love to own and wear. Then, when I go to Westfield, it all goes out the window and I come home with yet another tee-shirt or pair of Converse!
I just seem to forget about being stylish when I’m actually at the shops, even though I love to wear pretty things. I most certainly need someone to push me out of my comfy comfort zone!
(Stylist experience or no, I simply MUST go and get that bright blue necklace, it’s gorgeous…)
2011 is my year. It hasn’t really begun, though. I have the feeling the rest of my life’s path will really get underway this year… I see career progression, study achievements, challenges and life changing decisions being made. It hasn’t begun yet. What is holding 2011 back? The fact that I need a savvy new wardrobe designed by an expert. Without this my inner me won’t get the message from the inner me that 2011 is meant to be new and great.

I need to be styled as I have no idea what suits me anymore! Firstly I lost 18kg in the last 18months – which was wonderful, but now I am pregnant (due in June) and so cannot buy anything yet for after the baby. I am unsure of what my look will be once I have had the baby and cannot wait to get out of maternity clothes and into some new fabulous looks!
I love the wooden clog boot – how much if you don’t mind me asking?
I am in dire need of a stylist as I have lost a considerable amount of weight and need clothes that fit and suit my new and improved body shape. Also a little pampering and loving from a expert would be amazing as what girl doesn’t like being pampered… Oh and of course for the banana bread – it’s up there with shoes for me, can never have enough!!!
I need to be styled by Westfield because I’m honestly sick of going into Westfield in Geelong (where the lovely Jo is based) and not knowing what trends suit me and what goes with what. I often try and buy on trend pieces (cargo skinny pants, slouchy tees etc) but when they get home I can never match my purchases with my existing wardrobe/other new purchases. I’m hopeless with accessories – hardly adding them to my outfits! Thanks LM and Westfield for the opportunity!
I’ve a cupboard full of decade old clothes, none of which are practical, comfortable or everyday wearable. I also couldn’t accessorize to save myself. I need the assistance of being styled by Westfield in order to purchase those classic sartorial pieces a mid 30′s woman really needs.
I desperately need to be styled by westfield because I’ve found a cosy, snug little comfort space filled with pretty frocks and heels, that I can’t get out of! I love my look but I feel like I’m in a rut, I need someone who can teach me how to wear pants again. I’d love to try something a little less ‘pretty’ and figure out how to work a casual wardrobe.
I need to be styled by Westfield because I’ve only recently immigrated to Melbourne from California after living for 2 years in good-luck-finding-your-size Japan (where I met my boyfriend, which is how I ended up in Australia!).
When I left Japan last August I had to get rid of most of my clothes because I couldn’t ship them all to Melbourne and I was only visiting family in California for three months before I moved to Australia; also, the cooler weather is coming and I don’t have much in the way of warmer clothes. I haven’t been able to do much shopping in the past year because I couldn’t bring it all with me anyway.
Now I’m in a new place, I’ve only been here for five months and haven’t yet had the chance to replenish my wardrobe with all the cute pieces I’ve been eyeing for the past year.
I lack clothes for going out on the town, my shoe collection is quite dismal and my wardrobe needs a breath of fresh air along with some coats and warmer wear for chilly weather. Please help me with a styling session, it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to choose some great pieces to flatter my figure.
I have a hatred of shopping centres that I have blogged about several times, but you two make this look fun. I think that if I had the help of a stylist I might just be able to get all those basics covered in my wardrobe that have been laking for years. I’ve got cocktail dresses for every night of the week, but nothing sensible(and warm) help!
Well, I think I am the first guy here participating.
I think I would want to be styled by Westfield because I want to expand my wardrobe and explore more trend and styles.
I moved to Melbourne two years ago and started buying a wardrobe for a four season weather which is a first for me.
And it somehow ended up with mainly blacks or navy bue. A real dark, no tone wardrobe. And an occasional few whites.
All my clothes are simple adn absic pieces but I want to be more “OUT THERE” and I don’t know how!!
I hope to get more colors into my wardrobe and more daring style, and who better to help then Lady M and a professional stylist.
I would love to get advice in getting a bolder, colorful and statement worthy wardrobe!!!
Nature provided the perfect outfit for so many creatures think…
Leopard
Crocodile
Parrots in all their colourful feathered glory
We were given retailers!
We have to make decisions and choose what looks best on us!
We are bombarded with images & information on what to wear for our shape & size but yet so many mistakes still occur and I have way too many “what was I thinking” moments.
And then thankfully the Stylist was born, giving us the ammo to get it right, empowering us with the confidence in our choices and the all important boost to our image.
Our personal brand is oh so important and I like so many others want to try and make the most of what nature gave me but can I go it alone – NO – I need help…I need a stylist
I need a champagne wardrobe on a Passion Pop budget!
I need a clever, savvy and shrewd stylist to help me look a million bucks without having to spend it.
The challenge has been set!!
I need a stylist because as a 35+ pear shaped woman I have recently resorted to buying most clothes online from the US, as they better match my size and shape. I’d love to have my faith in Australian retail restored.
I need to be styled by Westfield because I am a pennyless law student who is condemned to be a window shopper until the end of 2012… I’m also a fashion lover, blogger and have a wardrobe full of crazy clothes that don’t go together… A new wardrobe from Wesrfield would really help me out!
I’m a bowerbird, a collector of rare and beautiful pieces… that don’t go together. My wardrobe is full of unworn items, simply because I’m not sure how to style them.
Good lord I need a stylist. After nearly 5 years of chronic illness which has also changed my body shape I have no idea what suits anymore. I have loads of lovely pre-sick clothes but I put them on now and feel disheartened. I haven’t even brought a new bra since 2007. Once I was a 6-8 now I think I’m a 10, but not sure. I live in trackie dacks and pjs as it’s just easier. I feel like a 37-year-old frump.
Add in that my eldest is doing his deb this year and I’d love to dance with him and not have him look like he’s dancing with the bride of Frankenstein’s frunpy pasty sister. See I need a make over/stylist not only for me but also so I don’t embarrass my children.
Hi Lady M, I need to be styled by Westfield as a reward for having (almost) finished eight years of study at uni, and finally finishing my doctoral thesis! I have been working at home, living in trackies and slippers, and haven’t had a haircut or bought any new clothes for months. Some help in picking out professional attire for job interviews and working life would be a terrific confidence boost. This would be the ultimate way to relax, reward myself, and finally (perhaps close to a decade too late) make the transition from perpetual student to full-time worker in the “real world”.
I desperately need to be styled by a Westfield’s Stylist to help me move on from my notorious ‘Uni’ dress-code of comfy trackies and a hoodie or a t-shirt with jeans and thongs (horrific!).. Even though I am a new Mum and turning 27 this year, I’m stuck in a wardrobe rut of a totally daggy 19 year old student who still lives at home with Mum and Dad… Help!!
I’d love to experience being styled…how ridiculously fun! I need help desperately because while my strength is a cute dress and heels, it’s almost all I wear, and I’d love to get some help to stylishly sport some jeans and more casual styles…
I would love a be styled by Westfield because while I love clothes and dressing up , I have no idea what works for my body shape. So when I go to the shops I always walk away empty handed and a little bit sad that I couldn’t find anything at all that suited me. I wear a lot of vintage and I am always in a dress so it would be great to have someone help find ways to make my wardrobe more versatile and make shopping fun again!
Love, love, love the leg lengthening nude and wood shoes! Where can I get some in Europe I wonder? The turquoise and coral beads totally rock to. Gorgeous!
OMG! I would be a stylists dream, a blank slate if you will. My wardrobe consists of every shade of black and outside of my extremely dated work wardrobe I live in jeans, t-shirts and converse cos for me it’s a safe bet. I don’t want to be safe anymore! Help me, help me, help me! Please Lady M, style me up!
I need to be styled by Westfield because what woman doesn’t need another woman to help them to put a few looks together and bring in a few elements that you would never normally look at?
Hi Lady Melbourne, since becoming a mother I have been the stylist for my daughter and have let my wardrobe go to all sorts of misery, I would love to have someone show ‘me’ what to wear and what best suits my body shape since having my daughter. I need that feeling of OH WOW again!
Hello Lady Melbourne,
It would be wonderful to be styled by Westfield to update my wardrobe from ‘op-shop crazy’ to ‘classic lady’. I feel like I have a mish-mash of styles in my wardrobe (plus too many things I don’t wear often enough and would love to learn how to nail the classic look just right!
I’ve just started the job of my dreams, i’ve moved out of home and i finally feel like I’m finding myself. But at 9-3 (3am that is!) plus weekends, this job doesn’t leave much time for styling, and shopping needs to be done once and done right! I’d love some effortlessly stylish pieces to throw on for work in a daze, and a fashionable outfit to celebrate rare time off with a drink at a stylish bar with friends and enjoy being me
I need help with a stylist so that I can boost my confidence.
I know that I am on the larger size compared to my other friends but I still love to shop and love fashion.
However, when I go shopping my confidence decreases dramatically because whatever i feel looks good, does not look good when tried on.
I need with what suits me and my body shape the most but still not look like a frumpy fat girl.
I want to shine!
Hi Lady M. I need a stylist because ever since I started working professionally I have sunk into a style rut. When I was at university I loved experimenting with clothing: different textures, prints, accessories, vintage and modern. When I began working I felt I had to “grow up” and wear sensible clothes; I felt this would help gain respect from my colleagues. I have come to realise that this is not true: it is the quality of your work, not your clothes, that helps gain professional respect. But somewhere along the line I have totally lost my mojo. I’m only 28 and I feel completely dowdy in all of my grey/black work gear, but I no longer have the confidence to wear the interesting clothes I used to! In addition, I’m hugely time poor (I’m a junior doctor and work up to 16hrs a day) which leaves little time or mental energy to dream up interesting outfits…
I need to be styled by Westfield as last year I was hospitalised and all my hard work of loosing weight and building my wardrobe came undone. The medication I am on has made my weight increase to the point where I no longer have any bottoms that fit me and am down to pyjamas and 3 dresses. Being a mum of 4 their clothing (and other things) needs come first. With me being so unwell I lost my business and my husband had to leave his job. So often I turn down opportunities to go out as I literally have nothing to wear. Fingers crossed I win as I need to styled as well as I have no idea what to buy and always end up with something that looks ridiculous on me!
Hi Lady M,
Apart from having a day dedicated to one of my favourite activities (yes, shopping of course), I know I’d be walking away with much needed hints and tricks to finally help develop my style. I tend to like a bit of everything which is great because I’m not restricted, however I don’t have a coherent style! It would be such a treat to have a true guilt free spending spree with someone who has an objective eye, and can see what I can’t when trying to dress. What an amazing and fun competition prize! It would be a day to remember.
I think I need a stylist’s help because I’ve been working in chadstone for about a year and seem to have lost much of my love of fashion as a result. I think a session with a Jo would help to see the quality among the mass of fast fashion and also help me find staple pieces which I never seem to be inspired to buy. Moreover, my feet are about a size 9 3/4 so shoes shopping is generally a painful and emotional experience. To have an expert on hand would probably make shoe shopping an enjoyable experience. It woud a fantastic learning experience which would allow a student on a budget to indulge and have some fun with fashion. fingers crossed.
At 23 I have finally accepted my curvy body and it is now something I want to show off and be proud of. I would love help in working out how I can do this best. I find that I often dismiss trends on the basis that I think it wont suit my body shape so I would love to have someone to show me how to work trends with my body type and work them into my already existing wardrobe.
i desperately need to be styled by westfield, as being a slightly more curvy gal than most, i often struggle with dressing for my shape, and getting a bit older as of late has inspired me into classic simple timeless styles. My new website is still under construction and a styling session would give me a big kick start. Puh-lease!
I need a stylist because I constantly buy items of clothing which I wear once or twice, and then end up having to give away or sell a few months later because they don’t go with anything else, or I decide I don’t really like it… I need wardrobe staples that I can mix & match with other items & that will get plenty of wear year round. I have no idea how to dress for my body shape and need someone to tell me what looks good! I think a couple of hours with a stylish will get me on the right track and teach me plenty about how to shop for my body & personality
P.S – Love all of your purchases!!
Because I have no idea how to style myself!!!
And it would be so much fun…!!!
Hmm… Well unfortunately, because I’ve had a bit of a weight gain recently (small injury = no exercise) and am having a bit of trouble looking and feeling good.
I need to be styled by Westfield so I can find pieces that work for me and my lifestyle. Then I can stop shouting “I have nothing to wear!” at my overstuffed wardrobe.
I’d like a personal stylist because I need help finding new looks on a buget – poor student! I love my homemade dresses, but I sometimes covet new things
But how to find a bargain without LOOKING cheap?!
I dream of being as stylish and experimental with fashion as you Lady M. I would like to receive the assistance of a personal stylist because I tend to stick with safe styles eg. I have at least 6 jumpers in the same style but in different colors! (Yes, its pathetic I know but it’s true!!!) I feel I have always been afraid to express myself with clothes and so I settle with being “safe” or most would think boring. I lost my confidence for having an “eye” for fashion very early – ever since I was teased endlessly for wearing black shiny ballet flats to school in grade 5 (Funny how you remember things like this that happened so long ago)…I just need a little help (ok…a lot of help) to explore and gain confidence with fashion!
Hi Lady M! I really like the grey cape (a cape-like cardi maybe?!) you wore in the last photo. Where did you get it from?
*love* the cape and the ‘angel wings’- are they earrings? So lovely!
I cannot believe you did not own a pair of dark denim jeans!
You look fab as always.
Please don’t incl me in the draw for stylist -I’m in CANADA and can’t visit!
Having spent the last year abroad volunteering, I am in desperate need of a wardrobe update! I’ve been back to Melbourne for 2 months and already I feel like a big DAG. Help!
Please help, I need a personal stylist because I always end up wearing black staple items and get scared to wear patterns and vivied colors that’s don’t suit my body type… I love the cloths and style of melb, but since I’ve moved here a few months ago from the sunny heat of Queensland. I’m finding it hard to get the right items to use here.
please guide me in the right direction. =)
I need to be styled by Westfield because…..Apart from wanting to desperately to meet LM, I have hit a wall in my styling. I will be turning 30 next week (which I have been dreading) and feel like I’ am not dressing for my age or shape. I basically have my staples as in work outfits that I only ever wear to work and then weekend wear which mostly consists of the one pair of jeans I own (black skinny leg) and singlets(lots and lots of singlets). I love fashion and every week buy heaps of magazines just to look at all the pretty clothes but just cant seem to translate them into my life…..I’ am in desperate need of help!!!
Your post is inspiring Lady Melbourne. I too love my vintage but sometimes struggle to meld it with on trend pieces so I can avoid looking as though I am off to a theme party. And shopping centres intimidate me a little bit, having someone who knows what is there and where to go would be GREAT!
For the past 2.5 years, I’ve been living in New Zealand and Australia (I’m from the U.S.). Everything I’ve been wearing can fit into two backpacks — and the only new clothes I’ve gotten have been castoffs and handmedowns from friends.
I long for the day when I can have a real, adult wardrobe. I’m months from turning 30 and would love to look the part — but I don’t know where to start! Having a shopping day could be a true boon.
i need a stylist because i think i don’t need one!!!!….everytime i leave the house i think i look rockin’…i do get some strange looks however
Hi, I just found you via the use blogger forum and wanted to say Hello. I think I need to go shopping with a west field stylist because I’d like to find where ibfit in with the world of fashion. How do I mix essential pieces with my day to day life from the school run to a night on the town with girlfriends OR a whole bunch of cool bloggers!!
Love your blog. I’m a hugevvintage shopper. I’ll be back for sure.
Lady,
as an impoverished uni student, most of my clothes (if not all) are second hand. While I love scoring a bargain at Savers, or stealing something from my mother’s wardrobe, for once I’d love to have something new. Something that’s mine!
And with winter coming up too, I’m sure to freeze. While I haven’t recently had a baby, or lost lots of weight, I can’t remember the last time I went shopping for myself. About the most amazing thing in my wardrobe is a pair of Tony Bianco shoes that were on sale for $75.
I think a day out shopping with you would be a perfect reward for all my studying
i need to be styled by westfield because i would love to have a wardrobe and an image that is coherent. despite being in the fashion industry i find that i buy into trends way too easily and don’t have a definitive ‘look’. i think that this westfield ‘makeover’ would be great because it would give me a chance to have a wardrobe of essential yet interchangeable, fashionable pieces. plus, because i’m an intern and making zero dinero it would really help my wallet out!
I would love to be “styled by Westfield” as I am a new mum to a 11 month baby girl and also have a 3 year old boy, I am in my mid thirties and I really would love to learn more what looks good on me and have a more polished clean look. I would really appreciate having a professional lead the way and teach me some tricks on styling and looking my best. Thanks for your inspiration!
I need to be styled by Westfield to take my style to the next level !!! With the expertise and guidance of a Westfield stylist, Lady Melbourne, and amazing clothes and accessories from all the wonderful brands at Westfield, I will finally find and learn to create incredible looks that reflect my own unique style and personality! Saying “goodbye” to a boring, uninspiring wardrobe and “hello” to the new confident me!
I need to be styled by Westfield because I wear the typcial Melbourne “Black” and don’t know how to breakout of it.
I desperately need some styling advice…I love, love, love so many of the gorgeous looks I see on tall models but I have major trouble trying to adapt them to my very short 5foot body. I’d love someone to show me how I can wear similar styles without making myself look even shorter!
Because I’m stuck in a rut ^U^
I need a Westfield stylist….because even though I know what I like – I have no idea how to put it all together. I would love to look as effortlessly put together as you do, but all I end up achieving is a “tryhard” look. I need to know how to put pieces together so i dont end up buying “faddy” pieces that just look silly on me and end up hiding in the back of the cupboard. I want stylish and chic – but on a budget! Basically I need to find my trademark style ….love the blog by the way
I’m afraid of colour, patterns, and florals. All I do is dress in black. In fact, I have 12 black dresses in my wardrobe. I am not in mourning, I’m aware that it’s ageing, but I can’t throw caution to the wind and branch out. Help!
In six weeks I graduate university and have to venture out into the real world – where throwing on jeans and a t-shirt is not acceptable. Not surprisingly after all these year of study, I need a professional wardrobe on a (very, very) small budget – the trouble is I have no idea where to start! What does a girl wear in the real world?! I need help! Thus the reason a stylist would (quite literally) help me find my place in the big, bad world!
I need to win a Westfield styling session because every time I come home from shopping my husband asks why I keep buying the same top in different colours!
Thanks for the amazing giveaway Lady!
I seriously seriously need to be styled by a Westfield stylist! I’m still transitioning from uni to the corporate world, and I have no idea what to wear. How do I dress appropriately for work without looking like an old lady or like a girl playing dress up in her mum’s closet. Seriously Westfield, please help me trendy and corporate!
I need a help from a Westfield stylist (and the lovely Lady Melbourne!) as I have some great items in my wardrobe but I’m missing the key looks for the season and am struggling to bring it all together in a way that will work for me without being too ‘fashion’.
i need help from a Westfield stylist because nothing in my wardrobe goes with anything else! It’s all a mish mash of different colours and I always end up wearing the same thing.
I have stopped looking after what I wear for more than a year now since I was diagnosed with terminal illness.
After watching Trinny and Susannah on TV last night on how looking good can really make you feel good about yourself, I am determined to somehow get myself out of the rut and live the best that I can while I can — that includes looking good for everyone and live life to the very max every step of the fashion time!
I now live in Qld, and when I win I am more than happy to jump on a big jet plane to claim my prize! I was born and bred in Melbourne, but since living here, the casual life has taken over my fashion sense. I only get around in shorts, singlets and t shirts (arrgh, and thongs!)…Please, I need a stylist session with Westfield and Lady Melbourne to bring me back to the 21st century. I don’t even own a pair of jeans. Help! Winter’s coming, what am I going to do…I have a minimal wardrobe, I haven’t been buying clothes because I simply don’t know what to buy, and to be blunt, I cannot afford even vintage. I’m 36, a divorcee and ready to spread my wings and step out into the real world. I will take direction and be a willing participant!
Lady M i would love to be styled because, quite frankly I have none. I am around stylish people all day ( I am a photographer), and though I know what looks good i can never make it translate to my own daily dressing. Sometimes I catch a glance in the mirror when I’m out and about and simply can’t believe I left the house dressed that way! I need someone to tell me how to make the best of my assets and disguise my um not assets? I would just love to know how to look cute everyday and think i need professional help!
xx
My lovely husband was recently made redundant so I am on a spending ban. In five weeks time I am due to give birth to our second and definitely last child after which time there will be a sacrificial burning of all maternity clothing in an oil drum in the backyard.
I would love to learn how to pull off a leather jacket, cuffed chino, Jo Blankfield’s smoking knee high boots or just a lesson in tying a scarf would be great and a Westfield voucher toting stylist would be idyllic. My husband could use a little pick me up too.
I would love to have a Westfield stylist and you LM help me update my wardrobe. It feels like my wardrobe has the same things in it now as 3 years ago and there’s nothing new and exciting to wear! I seem to always fall back on skinny jeans and basic tops… I love following fashion and admiring the outfits people on the street seem to effortlessly put together. Some professional assistance would be much appreciated!!
I would love to win the stylist session. I am 45 and am a working mother of twin girls. I currently have three jobs, not counting being a mother, and never ever have any time to myself. I still think I am style conscious and that I love fashion and vintage clothes but I need your help to bring the inner fashionista out! Don’t let me disappear into frumpy mummy land, tell me it is not too late and that I too can be saved!
id love a chance to win because its so easy to get stuck in a rut and Ive been in that rut for a while now – I need help to get out!! please help me Westfields!!
I need to be styled by Westfield and Lady Melbourne because for the past eight years my body has grown and fed 4 children (and continues to feed two of them!).
Therefore I have about 3 items if clothing that actually fit right now. And they are ugly.
I’m an entirely different shape to when I started and I’m so tired of looking, um, so tired!
Plus, shopping for ME without children is like a fantasy, make my dream come true?
I need to be styled by Westfield and Lady Melbourne because I’ve dropped 2 dress sizes by doing my own ‘Biggest Loser’ sort of thing at the gym and now nothing I own fits me – oops! I’m not sure how to dress for my new body shape & need an expert to weave some magic!
I am a POOR university student, but I also face he conundrum of having to look groomed when I do work experience at professional placements. I need some tailored pieces that will be comfortable, durable and fashionable, but a student budget is far too tight!
Help please
I need professional help to inject colour into my monochromatic uniform without having to worry about investing on ‘trend’ pieces, please?
Wow! so many comments.
I too am a first time commenter but really enjoy reading your blog and can’t give up this opportunity! Thanks!
I need a stylist badly! After living overseas and traveling for the past 15 months I can’t even remember what clothing I packed up to store at my parents house. I have seen alot and begun to realise that I really don’t have a personal style and would really like to develop one. I now view Australia as being expensive but would like to be shown otherwise (I’m scared to come home and go shopping!). I also find it difficult to buy clothes because whilst I don’t consider myself plus size (really I don’t think i’m huge but i can wear size 14 or sometimes size 10!), my body is a different size top and bottom and I’d love advice on what to wear to flaunt the good bits and also a few on trend pieces thrown in. I will also be turning 30 next year and would really like to dress my age without trying too hard to look young or dress old. In other words, I think a stylist could really help me heaps!!
I would love to be stylied because I am struggling to find a look I feel comfortable in. I love the current fashion and can wear it as I am 5″ 8″ and 57kg (see I’m old becasue I don’t use metric for height) but I’m 52 so hence my delima …I don’t want to look like mutton done up as lamb but I want to look “on trend” but still maintain a stylish sophisicaton that suits my life style both at work and home. I work in the fashion industry with a lot of younger people so totally feel the pressure to look good. I try really hard and while my wardrobe is not a disaster I do need some help to get the “right look”. so would love some HELP!!.
I work in a creative industry. As a young professional trying to find her feet I’m finding it difficult to balance feeling comfortable, gorgeous and unique to being taken seriously by my older peers. Any advice?
I need to be styled as:
a) I have a wardrobe full of practically unworn clothes
b) 99.5% of the time I shop for hours and end up with nothing or when I buy something…refer to a)
I am a styling novice.
Please help me Lady Melbourne!
I need a stylist because at 30kg lighter than two winters ago, I really do have nothing to wear. Can we just extend summer?
I am an untall apple called Peach at half passed 30 who doesn’t understand how to ‘do’ a mall, or the accessory to separate mutton from lamb, or how to change my colour palette from black to becoming without turning into my Mother. Please send help.
Like any girl, I want to be proud of the way I look. I want to be excited to leave the house everyday. I know the answer is out there somewhere, and I just need to be pointed in the right direction.
Lady Melbourne, I’m in a rut. I can’t sort out my sense of style, there are so many elements competing in my head that I frequently look like an extra from Rocky Horror – or worse, boring. As I’m just moving from ‘student world’ to ‘professional world’ this is a highly volatile situation to be in. I want to wow potential employers, not confuse them. Help! xx
After quitting my sole sucking job at the end of 2010 in search of my dream career, I wound up unemployed for 3 months with no income, consequently had to move house, maxed out my credit card and am now struggling to get back on my feet. Needless to say I haven’t been shopping in months and my wardrobe could definitely do with a makeover just like the one I gave my life.
Hello, this is a fantastic prize – but can I nominate my husband to win this? He really needs a personal stylist session and a brand new wardrobe STAT! We got married last year after a whirlwind romance – and since then, he has let himself go!! he’s got a wee pot belly now (he jokes that he is pregnant!) and his clothes don’t really fit. However, at the same time, he has started an apprentice job which means he earns peanuts (and I earn peanuts too as I struggle to get a job). Not only that his clothes have holes in the armpits… And he only wears the same pair of trainers over and over again!! Yes, I, personally would love a brand new wardrobe with a personal stylist session – but I feel that he deserves it more than me!! LOL, so that’s why I am nominating him…if that’s okay. Thanks!
P.S. I live near Westfield Doncaster and I have yet to bump into you – but when I do, I will act like a crazed stalker fan!!
I need a shopping spree because I’ve moved to ballarat and it’s even more freezing than Melbourne and I have no appropriate clothes!
Because being an introverted person .. shopping can be a bit intimidating at times and I am always afraid to ask out ..so it would be nice to recieve a personal style session with Westfield.
I need to be styled because I always go for the same type of things – big tops to cover/hide. I would love a pick me up as I am trying to figure out how to do what I want to do and get paid for it! Working in a job at the moment that I want to get out of but finding it hard to know what my next step is! Hmmm
I’ve just finished my Masters degree, but am sadly applying for executive jobs with a student’s wardrobe. Please help!
I need westfield to style me because my wardrobe is full to the brim but I always feel like I have nothing to wear. I always buy new things but I never seem to manage to wear them more than 5 times each as I’m never sure of how to remix them with the rest of my wardrobe. I always look at fashion blogs but I never seem to be “inspired” enough to fix my wardrobe and perhaps purchase selective basics that will help fill in the gaps in my wardrobe. Westfield I need your help to make my wardrobe work for me!
I need to be styled by Westfield because I used to wear a uniform to work every day (I never had a ‘what to wear drama’ in the morning) and have recently moved into a new office based job. People in the office wear pretty casual workwear, but my All Star sneakers are understandably frowned upon, and to make things worse I am 5’10 and can’t find a dress, skirt or top that is actually long enough on me. I would love to find casual workwear that suits me, 30 something European chick that used to be spoiled back home with shops like Zara and H&M (offer clothing for tall girls), that I can also wear on a daily basis when I am not working.
Hello Lady Melbourne. I seem to have an identity crisis when it comes to clothes. My wardrobe is an eclectic mess! I desperately need a stylist to give me some guidance so I stop making ridiculous purchases that grow dusty in my wardrobe. I lack cohesion! I lack style! More than ever I want my wardrobe to reflect ‘me’.
Dear Lady Melbourne,
I need to be styled by Westfield because I am a fashion Blogger without any casual style. I can dress myself for work and look a million dollars, but when it comes to dressing myself for anything casual, I inevitably wind up looking like a guy you see at the bus station with an ice cream bucket on his head, asking for spare change.
I know it might seem un-fair for me to enter this competition, given that I do class myself as a fashion Blogger – so I am dedicating 10 days, starting today, to proving that I am the most deserving of assistance from Westfield and yourself.

Thank you for your consideration.

Because I’ve just spent 6 months not buying clothes so that I could take my first ever trip overseas. This means I have no clothes from this season
I’m hoping to come back from my first overseas adventure with a new outlook and having grown a lot within myself, and it would be brilliant to match the growth and change I will have found with a wardrobe to match!
Lady Melbourne, I need to be styled by Westfield so that I can have the once in a lifetime opportunity to feel beautiful on our year 12 Formal night.
Dear Lady Melbourne,
I’m in dire need to be styled by Westfield because I moved to Melbourne from Berkeley, California a little over two months ago and still have no idea what to buy or wear.
Everyday I go out I look quite haphazard trying to figure out what and how to wear clothes in Melbourne.
I am also a student at the University of Melbourne and a chance to be styled would definitely increase my street cred as the new kid in school.
I am currently here for the year and thinking of relocating semi-permanently to Australia once the year is up. I really need help jumpstarting my wardrobe for the big city.
Please help me Lady Melbourne!
I need to be styled by Westfield for a number of reasons.
My body shape makes it very difficult to find clothes that fit and flatter me and I need someone to point out what I should be choosing that will suit me best and bring out my better features.
On top of that I live in Tasmania which means I only really have access to cheap and nasty clothes or really expensive designer labels in limited numbers. I currently do all my shopping in Melbourne and would love to come up and get it all done in one go with someone’s help who knows what they’re doing.
3. I love fashion and see so many great looks but don’t know how to put them together!
Please help me Lady M!

Much of my time is spent scouring online stores (mainly US- or UK-based) to find clothes and accessories. In recent times I’ve found Australian stores to be lacking so turned my attention (and money) elsewhere.
I’d love the guidance of a stylist, who could show me all that Aussie chain stores can offer me, and how to best dress for my shape and personal style.
Lady M – I’m putting out a call! Having you on hand would be a fabulous bonus!
I’ve got two kids who never let me shop
the two year old wails if i dare to stop!
the eight year old rolls his eyes and ‘hmppphs’ in despair,
I’m half dressed in the changeroom
I’m not getting anywhere!
You know I just turned forty,
but I still feel like a fox!
I’d love to strut my stuff again
in some outfit that rocks!
So meanwhile you might see me, maybe at Northland,
impatient toddler crying and pulling at my hand,
I’ll be that slightly harried mum
who looks like she needs a beer
who’s putting off her stylish plans
for another year
ok so I have been really thinking about this one and what to write.
Fashion and I used to be besties but slowly things started to change. You see, my husband and I thought we would do the trendy “in” thing and start a family. But after 2.5 years we were diagnosed as having unexplained infertility. My standard thought was “I won’t buy that because I will be pregnant soon” but …. it kinda never happened. Then all the money went to the baby bank and they don’t subscribe to” the get it first time or get it free”. After my 4th IVF failure I stumbled across Lady Melbourne. And fashion started making me smile again. So why do I need a stylist? I have been off trend for two and half years now and I need to be pointed back in the right direction!! And if I can’t have a baby I might as well look bloody fabulous!
I need to be styled by Westfield because I am about to turn 21. That may not sound like a big reason, but to me, it is.
As a girl studying video games design at Uni, I have fallen into the habit of living in shorts, geeky t-shirts and Converse, just like the boys. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but now that I’m about to turn 21, I need a helping hand to guide me towards a more adult, feminine wardrobe.
I woul’d Love to win this prize simply because who wouldn’t Love to win this prize ?How ever If I did win this prize I would give it away to somone less fortunate then myself.I believe that the fashion industry could do so much more for people in need infact we all can,If I was God everyone woul’d be styling !!!
Open my wardrobe and you will find a myriad of trends, styles, colours and accessories that just don’t go together. I admit I’m a slave to trends but when they don’t go with what you have or I don’t know how to put outfits together, morning times can be a little frustrating.
I hope a Westfield stylist can advise me on what to ditch and what to shop for in order to make the most of my wardrobe!
I so need a stylist to help me looking stylish ,hot mumma
I have lost my “touch ” with fashion after having 2 kids so need some help to bring it back ..Its time to put me 1st for a bit and start looking after myself .:)
I’m a working Mum, in my forties. I’m fit, young at heart and loving my figure. BUT I really struggle with todays trends and dressing age appropriately. I don’t want to be mutton and sure as hell don’t want to be Nana !! I look in the shops and scan rack after rack of beautiful clothes having no idea what goes with what and how to wear them. Having someone give me advice and help me get back my fashion shopping confidence would be invaluable.
I need a stylist experience because I am in a style rut and require professional help! I love fashion but lately I find myself disillusioned and with nothing to wear. I’ve found myself buying things that ‘i can wear to work’ but aren’t me at all. Result: i feel like i stare into someone else’s wardrobe at the beginning of the day! This would be such a great chance to get some advice (and new stuff) that would make my wardrobe more me. You know those dresses you put on and intstantly make yourself feel more ‘you’? I don’t have any of those anymore and this is get great chance to discover some!
I want someone to show me how to shop at a Westfield mall and STILL maintain my individual style. I know its do-able (as you have proved Lady M) I just don’t have the skills to do it without some help!!
My wardrobe is currently in a horrible state! I am currently at uni as well as working, and i find it hard to find items which can be used for both without being too dressy for uni! There is currently only a few pieces in my wardrobe that really work for all occasions and i really need to add to these, due to this problem i’m developing a horrible habit of wearing the same outfit WAY to often!
My body shape is different from 10 years ago,
Now how am I supposed to dress? I don’t know
Westfield, style me in something just for me,
Help me look my age (and skinnier) beautifully!
You know that moment in Cinderella, where she enters the ball and time stops, and everyone can’t take their eye’s off her? Cinderella’s evil step sisters don’t even recognise her, and need I mention she meets a prince.
That’s the reason I need a styling season with Westfields. I want that Cinderella moment, where you don’t recognise the new you. It may even mean I get to meet a prince, dance the night away, risk loosing a glass slipper (or wooden heeled payless shoe!) and find it again.
Who knew a styling session from Westfield’s could fulfil a fairytale? Well, here’s to dreamin’!
This would be gal-shriekingly FUN for me…but even better would be to gift it to the Mothership – yes, that’s my mum! I won’t go down the Pathos Path, so let’s just say it would be a wicked way for her to do a Westfield-Wipeout-Worry day!
After having 2 kids my body shape has changed & i need a little help in choosing styles and cuts which will flatter my curves and make me look and feel fantastic. Plus the right advice from a Westfield stylist could save me hundreds of dollars in fashion mistakes.
I need a stylist because my car was broken into while moving house over summer, and almost all of my clothes were stolen. Most of my favourite, go-to everyday staples and very sentimental vintage curated over years of collecting is gone forever. Having been through all stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and (only recently) acceptance, I feel I am now ready to start building my wardrobe again! I’ll never be able to get back the late-’70s gingham sundress that my mother wore when pregnant with me, but with a stylist I may find something to love just as much!
What a wonderful post and giveaway. I recently sold 50+ items from my wardrobe at the Camberwell Markets and need to replace those empty spaces in my closet. I also would love to try some new styles, but I think I would need Jo to help making them work on me.

I need a stylist because I need a change in my life and where better to start than with your wardrobe.
I’m stuck in a styling rut! Straight leg jeans, loose tops, a scarf, beads, bangles, an oversized bag….. repeat, repeat, repeat! I would love to try out a new look (or 2) and I think this gift card & Westfield would give me the perfect opportunity to do so.
Fantastic giveaway, I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

I definitely need a stylist because:
a) I’m a medical student and need help putting together hospital outfits that scream ‘I AM COMPETENT AND PROFESSIONAL AND I WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE LOOKING THIS EFFORTLESSLY FANTASTIC (but only once I graduate)’.
b) It would be amazing fun. I’m really curious to have someone else’s opinion and input.
c) I also need some help putting together comfortable uni outfits together that look amazing. Old hoodie and jeans routine is old.
As a HUGE fan of fashion, it has always been my dream to be put well together. Unfortunately, my weight has always been an issue of how things look on me. I have recently shed 30lbs and am on the track to lose 20more.
I need help styling myself. I am not too savvy on how to chose accessories and try new textures. Your time would be appreciated and would not go wasted.
PLEASE HELP!
Thank you for putting on this lovely competition, Lady Melbourne!
I’m in need of assistance from a stylist because I follow trends, collect inspiration and yet I cannot apply these looks to myself when I begin to shop.
The fact that I’m also 6ft and wear sizes 8-10 make finding on trend pieces that flatter my body, virtually impossible.
I continually sacrifice how I look by buying a size up, just for the extra length. I dream of the day where I no longer need to, so I’d love your help!
I need to be styled by westfield as I am utterly over going to my local westfield and coming home with nothing. I want to feel beautiful and confident and I need your help!! I’ve tried doing it on my own, but i think I’m allergic to style and if I do buy something in trend I feel uncomfortable and it ends up living out its life confined in my cupboard with tags still attached. On top of this I’ve been a cash poor uni student for the past 8 years and this oppurtunity would be something to truely cherish and remember!! Thanks for this oppurtunity xx
Oh I need this SO bad!
I don’t think I’ve enjoyed shopping for ages because being a uni student and strapped for cash whenever I go shopping its a pain just looking at the price tag so I end up buyng the WRONG THINGS!
Now I wear the same thing everyday: leggings + sweater + scarf and I just feel SO BORING.
PLEASE I NEED TO GET OUT OF THIS VISCOUS CYCLE D:
I am baron of colour. Really. I struggled to find anything in my wardrobe that isn’t a delicious shade of navy, grey, white or black.
Colour scares the bejesus out of me, I need someone to hold my hand (literally) and seek some colour that doesn’t make me look like a clown.
im a guy, i do shop but not alot most of my t shirts are now with my sister whom is a hairdresser n she cuts them up, alot of my old tshirts are now singlets, and i have just summer stuff now i need a revamp i would love to be styled by you to revamp my clothes and bring them back to life Please help
I need to be styled by Westfield because every week is a bad clothes week. I need help!
I usually buy things that are totally wrong for my body shape… need help asap!
I would love the opportunity to secure a styling session with Jo because my lifestyle asks a series of trends of me including corporate, street, glam and rock. I need help to select pieces which can overlap and create ‘my’ style which incorporates a bit of each trend. I’d also like to purchase some investment pieces, learn how to shop faster and smarter and overhaul my wardrobe.
I need to be styled by Westfield because I just moved to Sydney from the UK and have had to leave most of my beloved clothes behind! I’m normally a more is more person with clothes, but now I’m having to learn to build a small capsule wardrobe – and it’s tough. I’d love a bit of advice and to sort out my wardrobe to feel a bit more at home here.
I need to be styled by Westfield because this year my philosophy is embrace change. Along with my address and other change that are happening a style change would be awesome.
This level of desperation calls for a haiku:
Mismatched tights and tops
Outdated and disheveled
Westfield, I need you
Oh, my goodness! I would love/need to be styled by WESTFIELD, it sounds like so much fun! There are many reasons why, but I thought I would spell out just a few…
W) Wardrobe awaiting to be lovingly filled to the brim with the new season’s colour palette.
E) Essential/basic items in need of replacing to see me through a chilly Melbourne winter.
S) Shoes (need I say more?) Love, Love, Love!
T) Tips ‘n’ tricks on how I can ensure my capsule wardrobe is cohesive and inspiring each morning when I open my (very small) wardrobe.
F) Fresh set of eyes to suggest new stores I may otherwise not go into or purchase from.
I) I’m soon to be celebrating my 30th birthday (champagne in hand!) and would like some new styling options to balance on trend seasonal pieces with classic wardrobe staples.
L) looking to introduce a new edge by way of accessories to my otherwise daily rotation of feminine and classic ensembles.
D) Definitely open to trying new styles, designers stores etc.
Oh, and Lady M; I know crutches can be a little awkward from a styling point of view, but I’m sure that Westfield could loan you one of their mobility scooters – just imagine the darling high heels you could be showing off!!!
Good luck everyone! xxx
I need/want this stylist session as I have lost 14kg so far this year and have gone frm 18-20 to 14-16 and need help working out what ‘shape’ I am and what suits me in terms of cut and colour. I have my trusty favs and love to shop but seems to buy a lot of the WRONG thing that only works for 1 or 2 occasions and doesnt work with anything else I own! Please PLEASE lady help me work my style!
*** oops! forgot to add the E)… ( I was distracted by the latest issue of Shop Till You Drop – everything is available online, & was multi-tasking!)
E) Eco friendly/organic cotton tops to layer with my fave skinny jeans & cute trench coats for a ‘never fail’ combo when dashing around running errands etc.
heading off to work now, hope all the Lady M readers have a fab day!
I guess I’ve come to a cross roads in life, being on the “wrong” side of 20. My lifestyle has changed, along with my priorities. I want to be taken more seriously at work. This would be the perfect chance to do a proper ” grown up” transformation with my wardrobe. Perhaps it’s time to put away the fun and flirty outfits and keep them for the weekend strictly.
Like Lady Melbourne, I am having trouble introducing new trends into my wardrobe. I am also wanting to out some more colour into my wardrobe because I am always in black (very Melbourne of me!)
Please help me Westfield!!
Introducing… ME!

Ok, competition is fierce but here goes…
I was recently inspired by Yves Saint Laurent who said designing allowed him to give women power and in a sense, to liberate fashion itself.
I believe what you wear is a reflection of your identity. As a woman approaching her mid-twenties, I’d be so grateful to spend time with a Westfield stylist to help me select a few classically elegant, feminine pieces that reflect who I am, wherever I am (work, play). The ultimate aim is create a perfectly timeless wardrobe with an edge!
I showed this to my husband.
‘If I win a day with Jo I’ll be a new woman’ I promised.
‘Good’ said my Beloved, ‘I’m really sick of the old one,’
