Spirulina: Lady Melbourne’s new drink of choice?

So here it is: my latest health venture. Over the weekend staying with the Raife crew I was inspired to try spirulina in my juice for breakfast. It was promised to me as a super food that would make me feel on top of the world inside and out. I had the powdered version and I have to say perhaps it was the dosage but I did feel quite lively for the rest of the day. I’m going to take it every day this week leading up to fashion week and will keep you up to date on whether it can live up to its ‘super food’ reputation.

Now tell me, what are your health kick secrets?

Here goes…

I start off 96% of my days with a juice. In the juice I put spiruilna powder, wheatgrass powder and also open a inner health plus capsule. It’s really very good.

I stand by my belief that Spirulina is the nicest healthy drink. Try the Charlies one if you get that over there.

    brave stuff, LM!

I’ve taken the tablet form in the past but did not notice a difference. Maybe the wrong form but after a recent
taste of chlorophyll (EWWWWWWW) well I don’t think I have your coverage!

Look forward to your updates & it’s great to see you back on your feet! X

To Sammi – i may smell like fish food because it is also a really god dietary supplement for pet fish :) i give it to my little dudes all the time hehehe
Good luck with the health kick – my friend swears by Chia seeds in his juice daily.

I highly recommend green smoothies which taste delicious (google green smoothies for recipes) as they are packed with greens, but taste great due to the the right mix of fruit to greens.

I also recommend coconut oil for nearly everything! A shot of coconut oil a day will boost your metabolism and keep you healthy. Cooking with it is also great. It makes a fabulous make up remover (I have oily skin and used to break out alot before coconut oil) and so many other things! Again I highly recommend googling the benefits.

I think I might be brave and try it too! Vitamin d might be good for you as you always wear sunscreen and dont get to soak up any sunny vitamin b rays :-)

My favourite ‘super food’ is one called VitalGreens. It has absolutley EVERYTHING in it and then some. In juice it tastes great and gives you a good lift.

    Spirulina is the BEST

I also swear by green smoothies. My favourite recipe for winter is 2 cups filtered water, 1 cup fresh pineapple, 2 oranges (leave the pith on – it’s good for you), 1 inch piece fresh ginger and 1/2 head of cos lettuce. Blend until smooth. All you taste is the fruit and the lovely warming ginger.
As soon as I get a sore throat or feel a cold coming on, I drink this green smoothie. I have a glass last thing at night before going to bed, and then first thing in the morning. Within 24 hours I feel so much better and the cold is pretty much gone. Try it!
