My life in two words: Fashion and Technology

“Sponsored by Nuff Nang”

As the title of this posts suggest my life revolves around two major themes: fashion and technology. I blog, tweet and take photos of fashion so it was a delight to be able to combine them by visiting the opening of the new Apple Store at Westfield Southland, as well as the launch of their new Style Lounge.

Westfield invited Yvonne Adele of Ideas Culture (some of you may remember Ms Mega Byte from times gone by) and I along for a day of fashion and technology last week, or to put it in twitter terms: #fashtechday.

Starting with a coffee and raisin toast to kick off the day within an hour I was standing in quite possibly the longest line I’d been in since queuing for Magic Mountain circa 1992 at Disney Land.

This was the opening of the Apple store however and the line snaked out to the car park. My experience with lines aside from said 1992 experience extends to changing rooms only so I was amazed to experience the buzz of all these people. And just when you were lulled into a sense of reserved expectancy with free Chanel perfume samples and the offer of free coffee the doors opened and the most exuberant, hyped up excited Apple staff exploded forth from the store and ran the entire length of the line whooping and high fiving the crowd.

From iPads to shoulder pads Yvonne and I merged our two major interests in that she was intent on buying a new computer (you can read all about her adventures here) and I tried on almost every ring I could find in Lovisa to name but a few of the things we got up to. If you followed my tweets then you might recall me tweeting photos with jewels on every finger, which I’m generally wearing as a daily look right now.

Alyce the Westfield Insider was our host and I made sure that I took advantage of every second together to find out what was going to be in store soon because let me tell you- if anyone knows it’s her. She was wearing the hottest white blazer from Bardot that will be hitting stores shortly and I’m already wondering when I can get my hands on one.

Another insider tip: Palazzo pants are what you should be wearing this summer. I found a pair in Glasson’s of all places that had the sweetest and most subtle print, but I’m wondering if I might make myself a pair. I spotted them in Sportsgirl and Bardot to name but a few and Alyce told me to not even think twice and make a pair my own. Check.

To finish off the day I had a 15 minute style session with resident Westfield Southland stylist Victoria at the brand spanking new Style Lounge.

We chatted about my shape, how to dress for my figure (I’m ‘hourglass’ by the way) and how to get out of the trap of wearing black, which is a common trait in Melbourne. You can have one for 20 mins free of charge and walk away with some information outlining basic information and ideas on what clothes might suit your shape and colour.

A big thank you to Bee from Plentiful Class who took most of the photos that you have had the pleasure of viewing in this post. She volunteered her time and I couldn’t have gotten through the day without her help!
