Frocktober: Help me raise funds for Ovarian Cancer Research

Today I’m reaching out  just to remind you that I’m taking part in Frocktober as I do every year and as I have a month of wearing only dresses ahead of me might just need your help!

You can check out my page here: http://www.everydayhero.com.au/phoebe_montague and make a donation as little or large as you like.

According to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF), “one woman dies every ten hours from ovarian cancer in Australia.”

For many women with ovarian cancer, the disease is already well advanced when they are first diagnosed. Unfortunately, there is currently no screening test for ovarian cancer.

Frocktober aims to help improve the outlook for women with ovarian cancer by supporting the quest for a suitable early detection test through fundraising for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

So how can you help?

  • Morning/afternoon teas; nothing’s better than a decadent cup of tea in your favourite frock. Call your frockish friends; turn the kettle on, put out some dollar-dazzling slice and your event is complete! F is for Frocktober and T is for, um…Teatime!? Did someone say ‘Call the CWA!’
  • Challenge your mates, cos basically, everybody loves a challenge. Have you seen Bob in a frock!? Or for that matter Donna sporting anything but pants since wearing that purple taffeta number at a wedding in 1987? Put money on it, and get those unlikely few to step outside their comfort zone for a good cause!
  • Plan a night out at your favourite dinner spot or watering hole in honour of Frocktober. Get the frocks on and friends out!
  • Frock Fridays! Tell your colleagues to get involved and book out a Friday to have some frivolously frocky fun at work. Get the office manager to organise the party pies and beers for 5ish! This one is a workplace favourite.
  • Frock swap! Organise one! Between you, Shirley and Laverne there are bound to be some diamonds in the rough hiding in your wardrobe. With the proverbial ‘your trash is someone else’s treasure’ as your mission statement, bring your frocks to the table! How resourceful! How quaint! How Frocktober!
  • Don a frock all month, half of it, or even a week and get sponsored for it! This one is pretty much the original Frocktober challenge. So original that it’s almost retro!
  • Blog about it! Blog about your frockscapades to the WWW. Photograph your frockin’ efforts, show them off to the world and get sponsored for it! We had quite the flurry of blogger last year who narrated their journey through month of frocks using quirky imagery and insightful captions. Oh, and if you do this, send us through a link – we’d love to share your progress with the rest of the Frockin’ Nation.
Don’t forget to register your page as well here.

I’m looking for people to get involved with donating a dress for me to wear during the month of October and I’m also looking to host give aways in October that involve only dresses as opposed to the various array of product that I usually use.

As well as the dress I’m asking that you make a donation to the cause to help me reach my target of $500.

So why would you send me a dress AND donate some money to do so?!

Here’s why:

Your brand will get exposure on one of Australia’s most prominent fashion websites Lady Melbourne that has a reach of roughly 80 000 hits a month.

If you have a promotion, sale or message you need to get out there it will be included in the blog post accompanying your dress.

Sharing across my social media sites YouTube, Facebook and Twitter that has a reach of over 10 000 followers.

If you choose to get involved with a give away readers are always encouraged to view your e-commerce site in order to participate. As an example this was a tweet from one of my readers yesterday on the current give away running:

@miriam_wells wow 3 pairs of fieberger shoes4 under $100 arrived less than 24 hours after paypal checkout! thx @ladymelbourne 4 telling me abt them!
