Frocktober: Finding dresses in unexpected places

The weather in Melbourne can never really decide what it wants to be, ergo you could wear a dress like this one day and then jackets and scarfs the next. When the sun does come out however you will see people all over our fair city busting out summery clothes and today I took advantage and wore this dress. I bought it recently from Tree of Life which for years I thought of as one of those patchouli smelling, incense burning stores that you see on tourist strips in beach side resorts selling ugly hemp clothes.

I was of course pleasantly surprised to find this dress that didn’t tick any of the above boxes but was still only $39.95. Kind of amazing really. And it didn’t smell of patchouli either ;)

I’d love to know where you have found something gorgeous in an unexpected place.

What I’m wearing:
‘Jerry’ Dress: Tree of Life
‘Amalie’ Tote: Witchery(current season)
Belt: Op-shop
‘Betty’ Heels: Shoesales.com.au
Large necklace: Turkey
Diamante necklace: Imagination on Swanston St in Melbourne

Tree of Life? I haven’t been there since a brief hippy phase in high school. I think it deserves a revisit after seeing this outfit.

Christina- yep it certainly surprised me!

Michelle- I thought it was mandatory that the sun shone all the time in Perth ;)

Miss T.P- I’ve not worn off the shoulder in a while but with the warmer weather its seeming more appealing.

Boobahs- Sorry to hear that, I only ever write honestly and hope that you don’t feel alienated after 2 blog posts. Come back and see how you feel!

A very good friend of mine works at Tree of Life, but I’ve never been to visit. Perhaps it is about time I did.

    Love your orange accessories!

Same thing happened to me at Tree of Life! Was going through a vest phase a few years ago and happened across one at Tree of Life. The only thing I’ve ever bought from there, it’s really lovely, i should wear it more…

Amazing dress and made more amazing by the way you’ve styled it. I love the orange accents and the glamorous Veronica-Lake-slash-seventies-glam ‘do! I feel so inspired after seeing this – thankyou! xx
