DIY Crystal ring & necklace

I bought these crystals on a recent trip to the Melbourne Museum. They were an unlikely find in that I didn’t expect to happen upon them in the gift shop, but none the less they stood out as soon as I spied them and for $6 a piece they were too good to pass up.

How I was going to make them into a ring and pendant respectively took a couple of weeks of consideration until I just decided to glue both of them onto a ring base. I picked them up at Maria George in town, but if you plan to do this yourself then you can buy jewellery parts and findings these days at Spotlight, Lincraft and if you are overseas I’d try eBay. They cost me about $2 each.

Then it was a case of buying the glue and sticking it on. I can’t find my long silver chain at the moment so I’ve just popped the pendant onto a piece of hessian string, but I don’t mind the look of that either.

So that’s it, pretty simple for some really pretty jewellery me thinks!

They look like the prettiest icebergs ever. Good job. Think I shall go on a diy blitz over the summer holidays.

Great DIY. I’m inspired to make something myself. You make it look so easy. I hope that I can pull off something similar with just as much ease.
