In which I’m permanently on a boat

Or in other words, I have barotrauma or an inner ear infection of which vertigo is a side effect. It’s a cruel mistress and there isn’t much you can do but stay in bed and rest until the inflammation in your ear subsides. And how long does that take? Every person is different so who knows!

I feel as though I’m on a boat and that every time I get up and walk around the ground beneath me is moving. I’ve had it once before and its really quite disconcerting, but it will eventually pass so its just a waiting game.

Until I was stuck down I didn’t get a huge amount done but I did pick up a couple of things as you can see below. I have loads planned for my time here including some great appointments, I’m just crossing my fingers that I’ll be better sooner rather than later!

  • Oh Lady M, health speed to you while intrepid traveling x

  • Hope you’re feeling better LadyM… I love the pieces you bought, especially the pearl necklace!

Barotrauma is the worst! My doctor gave me anti-nausea medication when I had it, it didn’t get rid of the vertigo but it did make the whole thing a lot more manageable. Hope you’re feeling better soon 🙂

  • Ade

Aww 🙁 Wishing you a speedy recovery!! xx

  • Oh no, how horrible, and what timing! I hope you feel better soon! x

  • Oh dear! get better soon! And I see you got Hunger Games, at least a good book to accompany you 🙂

  • Darling I hope you recover soon. What is interesting is I used to overnight in HK every week with my old life as a flighty with Qantas, and I was struck down with something similar for over a week. I had to stay in HK which could have been worse, but it’s not nice being away from home and people who can take care of you when you are unwell. Hope you get better soon!!!!

  • You poor darling. I take daily medication and if I ever forget, I am cruelly reminded the next day with vertigo and nausea. Not much fun when stuck at work and driving yourself home is not an option in such a condition.

I can totally relate. Hope you are feeling better.

  • Hope you get better real soon and be able to go venturing through HK and do more shopping. Take care.

  • Oh gosh, nothing worse than an inner ear infection. I once had one that made me so nauseous I spent most of the day in the work bathrooms trying not to be ill! Hope you get well soon and enjoy Hong Kong! NHG x

  • Hi girly:)
    Feel better soon….
    Kiss kiss from Norway…

  • Oh I sympathise, vertigo is a side effect of skipping a dose of my medication and it is a wretched feeling. Get well soon! Enjoy the hunger games!

  • I feel for you sweetheart & hope that you recover quickly so that you can really enjoy your time in HK. I have had that head spinning, horrible dizzy thing too. Took a couple of days of bed rest to recover. Great to see you’ve got a nice book to snuggle up to. Love the items you’ve purchased so far, especially the pearl collar. x
