Win an Oscar Oscar makeover package!

You guys should all know by now that Oscar Oscar look after my hair, and I love them for it because they are award winning salons with the most amazing colourists….but I don’t colour my hair.

So what do we do instead and why do they work with someone like me who just likes to keep things simple and natural?

“We are about making you look and feel beautiful what ever it is you want for you hair,” Robert Weir tells me who is the salon director at their new Southland Salon.

“We are a full service salon and can completely change your look, there are some women who come in that would just like to have the best quality products used on their hair and to get a blow dry. It’s about absolutely beautiful hair,” he says.

So with that in mind I went along to have myself a make over of sorts and as you can see from the photo below, I arrived with an unwashed top-knot which isn’t unusual when I’m time poor. It’s a trend driven look in itself but it’s not exactly chic and more importantly not really Lady Melbourne like is it?!

Robert knows I like to keep my hair looking effortlessly natural, healthy and shiny so he took one look at me and said, “I’m going to keep the cut really simple, use some beautiful Kerastase products and then we’re going to have you leave with some voluminous curls and waves, but not overdone.” Perfect.

As you can see below there is no point denying it- a fair bit of work goes in to ‘effortlessly natural, healthy and shiny’ (!) but when you see the end result you can see why I absolutely love my visits to Oscar Oscar.

Behold:

As I arrived at the salon with unwashed hair scraped back into a top-knot.

Part of the Oscar Oscar salon experience is that they serve you the most incredible Ayurvedicย tea when you arrive. I could drink this all day.

I asked Robert if Oscar Oscar have their own cutting techniques and he said, ‘Oscar wrote the book on it. Literally!’ and then handed me Vision which is the salon guide for all Oscar Oscar salons written by Oscar Cullinan himself.ย This one hundred and fifty page, hardcover book was created using the renowned photographer Israel Rivera resulting in a hairdressing style-bible, which encapsulates a lifetime of work.

These were the Kerastase products used in my makeover. Oscar Oscar also use Aveda and Redken as well, all of which are available to purchase in salon if you just can’t leave without it.

The blow dry begins and below, first look at my new ‘do.’

Ah can you tell how ridiculously happy I am about my hair?! Loving myself sick.

The product wall, one of the largest of all Oscar Oscar salons around Australia.

  1. This comp is totally over, but I am in desperate need of a makeover! I used to have fire hydrant red hair and had to get it bleached three times to get the red colour out. The salon that did it left it a dull, boring colour and in horrible condition. I have my year 12 grad ball coming up and I want to look flawless… This comp would have been PERFECT! #Shattered.

  2. […] Thank you to everyone who entered, it would be fabulous to have you all in but there can only be one winner. Don’t forget that if you did enter there is a nice little discount flyer available for you, just check out the original blog post here. […]

  3. I’ll have to pop in to Oscar Oscar in Sydney! I’d love to find a hairdresser who I can trust. I’m still waiting to meet ‘the one’ ;).

  4. My hair has never touched a straightner or a curly.
so it would be lovely to experience it by a professional stylist.

  5. Lady Melbourne I thought your hair was stunning and I’d love to have the Oscar Oscar transformation. Robert would have a professional challenge on his hands with my mousey coloured, very fine frizzy hair!

  6. I have never been to a hair dresser and left feeling a hundred bucks and thinking “wow my hair looks amazing!”. I need to find a permanent hair dresser that knows the ropes and can do me something beautiful and fun that will suit my personality, i would love to try and ombre my hair, however am not up to trusting any of the hair dressers i have previously been to. I would love this oscar oscar makeover package to get me going! Thanks Lady Melbourne, what a great offer!

  7. Looking much more scummy mummy than yummy mummy at the moment! I love being a mum but I seem to have lost myself a bit. I need a reinvention – something to get me back on track.

  8. turning 30 and having no idea what to do with my hair ..just like the last 20 odd years

  9. It started off just like a normal day, when ‘beep beep’ a text message came through…It was my hairdresser.
She was moving away, and my world came crashing down. She was ‘the one’. The one who had erased those emotional scars from terrible dye jobs and clumsy cuts, the one who taught me to trust stylists again. Now it was over, dumped via text message, was it something I said?

So it’s been several months and it’s time to move on, one can only wear headscarves for so long. She will always have a place in my heart, but maybe Oscar Oscar will be the hot new hair romance that I need.

  10. What a great prize! I have 3 colours in my hair at the moment from poor maintenance (washed out box dye – classy) and ugly splits ends from neglect! I’m sure this would be the perfect savior for my poor unruly hair!

  11. My hair style and colour has not changed in 10yrs – I’ve not found the right stylist I trust to change my look. More than happy to jump into the deep end. with Oscar Oscar. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. After my wedding last year, I’ve let my blonde grow out, leaving my natural brown come through – unintentional balyage you could say.. I havent had a hair cut since February, due to paying off said wedding! I feel like something new and fresh, but just cannot afford it! Better call the wahmbulance hey?!

  13. I just realised I can’t actually remember the last compliment I got about my hair! Also have just started to get greys so would like to know how to deal with them. Basically it would just be wonderful to chat with someone who has the expertise that can help me achieve an easy to manage style and who really knows their stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. This would be heaven! I cant even tell what my hair should look like anymore. its grown out so far its unrecognisable. Shame. Help Lady Melb! xxx

  15. My hair is very much in need of some TLC. As a typical twenty something, I live a active life, juggling university studies with a part-time job, sports and family, leaving very little time for everything else, let alone a spare few hours to head to the hairdressers. Add to this heat damage, 6 month old regrowth, a few hours of swimming in chlorine pools each week and a limited budget, my hair is looking very neglected indeed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Robert was a little horrified when he sees the shape of my hair! The oscar oscar hair package would be the perfect way to kickstart my hair back into a healthy state.

  16. I’ve never had my hair dyed. I haven’t paid for a haircut in 4 years. I think it’s time I went to the hairdressers?

  17. My hair has always been my biggest insecurity. It’s very fine and straight. My uber controlling mother made me keep it boy short until I was in grade 15. Being short and stick thin I looked and felt like a teenage boy. I secretely wore a cheap wig in my room so I would get the feeling of having long hair.
I am now 29 and a mother and still have the same insecurities. I do my makeup as close to perfection as possible and wear pretty things to distract people from noticing my horrid hair.
Going to the hairdresser is my biggest fear. Oscar Oscar sounds like a pleasant experience for a change and as much as I would love to win there are much more deserving ladies here than me. Besides, I would be quite a challange for the Oscar Oscar people. You don’t want to do this to them!
I will definetely save up for a few months and go see them next. Thank you so much for letting us know about this wonderful place.

  18. It looks heaven! My hair has never been styled, only cut. What a luxury! It is one of those things on the list titled “when I have a day off and have saved some $$$ I’d love to…” It also appears on the “I’m hoping my boyfriend will buy me something like this for my birthday/christmas/anniversary/anything…” list.

  19. […] had some money left over on a Westfield voucher and so after visiting Oscar Oscar last week to get my little make over, I popped into Florsheim shoes. I’d spied some lovely peep toe, nude heels last year in […]

  20. I have had the same style for nigh on ten years! I need to have a major overhall stat! I need gorgeous hair just like yours!

  21. I would adore nothing more than an Oscar Oscar make over for my hair as it is in need of some serious care. As I am a University student little luxuries such as haircuts and even home colour are out of the budget question. To make matters worse due to stress from a number of sources my hair has started to thin and fall out, this has caused me even more stress as my hair used to be thick and glossy. I was so proud of my crown of glory., now I can barely look at my hair without sighing causing me to avoid styling my hair all together. I love to look at my hair in a different light and enjoy styling my hair again.

  22. Your hair looks amazing!!! Those bouncy cascading curls and your natural colour is to die for! No wonder you don’t mess with it!
I’m turning 30 this month and I am in desperate need of a hair makeover! Desperate I tell you.

  23. obviously. my hair wants it but my location is the boundary. I live way far from where you are but I really really want to have a hair treatment from this salon.

My hair is frizzed and I don’t know if this cut suits me. I just plainly need a treatment and suitable style. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Sure why not!

I had a little self-inflicted hair disaster when I dyed my own hair using supermarket dye two days before Fashion Week. Maybe you remember my horrified ranting on twitter? It was supposed to be a darkest dark brown 24 wash semi-permanent, but came out black and is STILL in my hair two months later and I wash my hair almost every day.

Now it’s growing out awkwardly and I just need some serious help with regulating the colour. I might be all black when it comes to my fashion but I don’t really suit pitch black hair, let alone pitch black hair with brown regrowth.

PLEASE HELP OSCAR AND OSCAR this is a job for a PROFESSIONAL and I PROMISE I’ll never self colour again.

  25. I am a serial Do-It-Yourself- er when it comes to my hair!
I highlight it myself.. and it usually ends up splotchy a some point, which determines where I part it (haha seriously tho :S).. and then it usually turns brassy yellow. So then I tone it myself.. and it either turns purple or doesn’t do anything at all! I would absolutely love to get my hair professionally bleach and toned or highlighted, but as a student, can’t really afford it.. hence I resort to DIYing!! After snipping at my own hair for the last little while, I finally did decide to get it professionally cut about a month and a half ago, forking out a hard earned $65, and long story short, I am quite disappointed with the cut. I would be over the moon if I won this makeover and right now would be beautiful timing because I am heading back to my hometown in a few weeks, of which I have been gone for almost 8 months and would really love to show up looking fabulous?! Show my ex that I’m worth something to miss!! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks so much for this fun opportunity! Crossing my fingers! Xo

  26. I am in dire need of an OScar Oscar makeover because I need some colour in my life during a dark, rainy winter! A hair colour injection might just do the trick!

  27. This plain Jane needs definition. Lacks spunk, requires a magician. Hero to the rescue, its Oscar Oscar. 12 months straight I’ll look spectacular

  28. I would love an oscar oscar makeover as the best treatment my hair gets is dyed with hair colour from the supermarket and it gets cut by the barber he comes to my house to cut my 3 kids hair as well as my partners

  29. Current hairstyle: Johnny Depp-ish.
    Requirements: Sarah Jessica Parker locks.
    Reason: Upcoming romantic interlude…
    Solution: Oscar Oscar!

  30. I would love to win this comp. I’m an artist and my hair is very boring atm, I would love something different. Edgy.

  31. Is Oscar Oscar up for a challenge? My hair is a dog’s breakfast and I need help! I cut my own hair(yikes!) and bleached it myself (big mistake).

  32. After giving birth to my son, Sam, 10 months ago and finally getting back into my pre-pregnancy jeans, I think it’s time for a makeover! Once upon a time, long ago, I used to get fairly edgy hair cuts. However, I currently have brown, below-shoulder-length hair that often gets ‘styled’ into a messy top-knot thingy as I can’t be bothered trying to think of what to do with it. I am looking to cut my hair short (think Michelle Williams short) and need the expertise of an experienced hairdresser to advise me in terms of what cut and colour would suit my face. It sounds as though the people at Oscar Oscar are just the type to help me pull it off!

  33. At forty five, I need my image remade and my do to come alive, And to reflect the stylishness to which I strive.

  34. You look gorgeous! I would love to win because I a gorgeous Oscar Oscar mane would distract from my pale pallor, the bags under my eyes and the nonsensical gibberish coming out of my mouth. I have a one year old baby who has a medical condition that means he needs to be fed every 4 hours, day and night. Mama is sleep deprived and there is no end in sight. Help me Oscar Oscar!

  35. This is how I WISH my hair would look when I leave the salon but my last experience was one of so much speed and little style that I was left very diappointed. My stylist however kept time that an F1 driver could be proud of ๐Ÿ™

If I won and didn’t make it to Melbourne in time I would give the chance to a very worthy melbournian friend.x

    โ™ฅ ThankFifi

  36. I would love a hair makeover but as I’m not Melbournian I wouldn’t be able to use the prize. Just wanted to leave a comment to say I love the hair transformation, the curls look amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  37. After living in Melbourne for over 3 years, I have yet to find someone who’s able to cut my hair well, it’s usually a bit of trial and error every time I see a new hairdresser. I need someone who can cut and style my limp and fine hair such that it shows more volume and requires minimal or no styling after a wash ๐Ÿ™‚ Would absolutely love to try Oscar Oscar, please!

  38. My hair is in desperate need of some professional care. Been dying brown at home for the past few years and the ends have turned a nasty unflattering black. Really want to try a lighter shade of hair, so decided to grow out the colour back to my natural light brown auburn colour. Looked terrible, so I cut my beautiful long locks to help speed the process, another regret. Now I have gone from beautiful chocolate coloured long curly hair, to black ends, terrible length and horrible auburn regrowth. Please help!

  39. Life has been throwing me curve balls for sometime now, anything to take my mind off them would be most welcome.l

  40. Your hair is stunning! I deserve this prize because it has been far too long since I had a haircut (an underwhelming one at that), but alas I am a poor student who can’t afford a haircut of this caliber. I’m also a hair colour virgin due to fear of hairdressers who aren’t up to scratch and would love to have a change in that department.

  41. I think it is a sign from above… I will be spending the next two weeks of school holidays screaming ‘Oscar! Oscar!’ at the top of my lungs! Oscar! Oscar! Leave your sister alone! Oscar! Oscar! Leave your brother alone! Oscar! Oscar! Leave the dog alone! Oscar! Oscar! Please pick up your lego!

As one Oscar will most likely drive me mad, I will need a new Oscar return to freshen me up and return me to sanity!

  42. I am a women’s clothing designer and maker. I have spent the last year renovating my own signature boutique with no budget. I have been so busy setting it up and filling it with new designs that I have completely neglected myself. I desperately need a new do, to compliment what I do.

  43. I’ve had the same hair for years. I would do anything for an update.

  44. I’ve been dark for too long – but don’t trust my hair dresser enough to let her change it!

  45. I’m about to become a first time Mum in 6 weeks and would love a hair makeover to help me feel alive and fabulous before and after the baby arrives. It’s top of my to do list before my world completely changes ! ๐Ÿ™‚

  46. I’ve been backpacking in Europe for the last six months, and haven’t had the language skills to say “Not too short, please”! Now I’m back on that old 9-5 schedule, a new hairstyle would be perfect for a little excitement and something different. Xx

  47. You look gorgeous!! I love the soft curls!

Hmm…where to start? I’ve had the same look for the last couple of years because my hair is long, thick and wavy (harder to style than you think!) and really have no clue what to do with it! I get the same haircut every time and really need something to shake it up a bit!

  48. I.Need.A.Makover! Limp thinnish hair…desperately in need of a transformation!
Thanks for offering us all the chance to take part in this…Fabulous
    Thankyou

  49. oh my gosh your hair is so amazing and LONG and those curls are divine!!! just the type of hair makeover i definitely need – i have just gotten so lazy with mine and wear it up most of the time. walking out of the salon looking half as amazing as this will definitely inspire me to put in a little bit more effort at home!
fingers crossed and good luck to all xx

  50. I used to have perfectly styled short hair, but then stopped cutting it 3 years ago in favour of growing it out. So now it’s long… and man am I bored! It’s great that I have some length to play with in deciding a new style and am keen to explore a warmer, softer shade of dark brown to brighten things up for winter. Time to freshen up these locks!

  51. DAYUM LADY, you look SO SEXY with your sexual hair and sexalicious boots!! I’m super jealous. I covet your locks. Miss you xxx

  52. Holy crap, what an amazing giveaway! I would love a hair makeover because… it would make me feel like a million bucks!

  53. My hair is in serious need of some TLC! I can’t afford to get a whole colour so have resorted to home dye and now I have this weird dark patch on the back of my head where I couldn’t reach! A treatment would be heaven for my dry, flyaway mane too.

    Fingers crossed for the win!

  54. I believe ‘your hair is the most important thing you wear!’
It triggers some inspiration to treat ourselves more often because we feel so good, and of course, we all deserve it!
Oscar Oscar, you have full permission to turn me into a new ME! *fingers crossed!

  55. I have had two babies and work almost full time. You have inspired me to get back into fashion but my hair has suffered with breastfeeding and no time! Would simply love this as much as everyone else really!

  56. I am a virgin to hair pampering, my usual hairdressers are nice enough but I always leave a little underwhelmed. After taking the plunge and going red a few months ago, I am currently sporting a black to faded reddish-brown ombre. Not chic. A visit to Oscar Oscar may just be the little kick my hair needs and remind me that my hair need not be tended to in a (pardon my French) half-assed, apathetic way.

On a side note, your hair looks incredible and I am coveting that blouse!

  57. Such a gorgeous result! And the tea looks amazing too.
My work is currently restructuring and I’m in limbo – I may or may not lose my job. Eep! This means I’ll need a complete Oscar Oscar overhaul to get me prepared for any unexpected job interviews. Plus, I’m well-overdue for some love. It’s been about a year in between salon visits for me. Yikes!

  58. I would absolutely love to get my hair tended to. It is thick and long but I do nothing with it. Up in a bun every day – so boring! I need a change and some inspiration!

  59. I always come second being a mum (which i wouldnt change for te world) and working full time. Would be amazing to be pampered for just a couple of hours

  60. i secretly (well not so secretly anymore) haven’t had a hair cut in nearly 2 years (just a bit trag) and it’s time I sort it out!!

  61. I need an Oscar Oscar hair make over because my hair is tired but has great potential. Its thick and wavy and to be completely honest, I need to get out there and stun some men! Help me Lady Melbourne!
