Lady Melbourne public speaking dates 2012

I have some fabulous news to share with you all and I am SO THRILLED!

Two things have been simmering away in the back ground and as the programs have been officially launched I can finally tell you all about it and invite you to come along for yourself.

The first event is being held as part of the Melbourne Writers Festival under the New News program and is called ‘New News: Editors Talk.’

Here’s some info for you:

“Bloggers who acquire large audiences are adept in audience engagement. What can they teach our mainstream media editors, and on the other hand, what lessons has mainstream media got for the newest and edgiest entrants to the media circus? Leading bloggers and editors discuss.”

When Margaret Simons emailed me to ask if I’d like to be part of this I almost fell off my bar stool. I think I can safely say that being on a panel with Henry Finder, editorial director of The New York Times is a career high light for me. Not only am I joining Henry Finder but Michael GawendaEden Riley and Kate Torney. Yes, I am nervous!

The second event is being run by Prospect 360 called The Publicist, the Journalist, the Stylist and the Blogger! Here is their little spiel:

“Do you love fashion? Always talking, writing, blogging, or tweeting about it with friends? Learn how to fashion that passion into a serious career as a fashion publicist, journalist, stylist or blogger when you attend the Prospect 360 Fashion Media Seminar, to be held on Wednesday September 19, 6.00pm to 9.00pm at the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Level 4, 672 Bourke Street, Melbourne.”

It’s a huge honour to be part of such a great event and in such esteemed company. I’ve heard reliably from Sarah of Style Melbourne (who was the ‘blogger’ on the last panel) that it’s a fabulous chance for people wanting to get their foot in the door and hear from those who’ve worked their way from the bottom up.
