Vintage Yves Saint Laurent

Firstly: hows the light in these photos? It looks studio lit but it’s just the late afternoon, winter sun and I think it reflects off the tin roof of the garage. I think its amazing and have realised that I don’t use it enough really.

Anyhow!

Yves Saint Laurent 1970s Ad

In June this year it was reported that the new creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane, was set to change the name of the iconic Parisian label. It has been known as ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ for more than half a century but Slimane’s vision will have it known as ‘Saint Laurent Paris,’ a nod to 1966 when the ready-to-wear line was launched and called ‘Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.’

The logo is arguably as recognisable as Chanel’s interlocked double C or Louis Vuitton’s LV and so it has raised many an eyebrow in fashion circles world wide that Slimane, previously of Dior Homme, would make such a move.

So what did I do? I went onto Etsy the moment I heard(via Twitter of course) and bought myself a little piece of this iconic label.
