Melbourne + Coffee = Love!

Melbourne's best coffee? Lady Melbourne is going on a quest to find out!

Melbourne loves coffee, fashion and footy, in whatever order suits your preferred pursuit. With that in mind, I thought it was high time Lady Melbourne started to explore where to get the best coffee in this fair city of ours, given that I drink enough of it and really, shouldn’t Lady M know these things?

To make things manageable, I’ve decided to divide the city into north, south east and west so there’s a rough semblance of order, so that if you are visiting from interstate or overseas you’ll get an idea of where to go.

So, where to begin? Well I thought north would be a good starting point so here I am in the heart of Brunswick, at ‘Brunswick Foodstore.

Located in the former warehouse for Toby’s Estate coffee,  owners Suzy and Rich transformed the coffee roastery into an all-encompassing cafe that sells an impressive array of condiments, spices, coffee and fresh produce.

The daily blend is ‘Wooloomooloo’ from Toby’s, and the single origin blend changes each week. You can buy the coffee you drink to take home and add things like Al Wadi orange blossom water or Mrs. Bridges lime marmalade with ginger. I did!

There’s a steady stream of locals, which is always a good sign, and in my mind it’s one of the best places to get a fab cup of coffee north of the river.
