A weekend with MINI

Lady Melbourne with the brand new Mini S 5 Door Hatch

What better way to zip to the Yarra Valley than in a brand spanking new Mini Cooper S Hatch 5 Door?

Yes, I had to hand it back after a weekend’s frolic (boooo!) but my word it was a nice little chariot for cavorting about the Yarra valley for a couple of days.

The 5 door is the latest on the market, and while I can’t bedazzle you with talk about the technical aspects; except to say everything was arranged nicely from a driver’s perspective, and that its responsiveness and control was faultless, I can confidently say that the aesthetics and styling were right up my alley.

This colour of my steed was ‘Volcanic Orange’ but you can choose from nine different colours, my favourite being British Racing Green. The interior lighting can be customised and, as with all modern cars, most of the settings are done via an internal computer, which appealed to my gizmo-loving, social-media amped sensibilities.

It’s a little bit strange to wrap your head around if you’ve not driven a new model before – a touch pad in the center console and the press of a button to start the car – but before long, I was zooming out of Melbourne on my way to wine country.

It’s a nifty, sporty little number, perfect for an inner-city metro girl like me. It was quite economical, comfortable and had enough power to satisfy my humble needs. It was definitely a perfect little car for a weekend away for two.

*This is not a sponsored post in that Mini did not pay Lady Melbourne to review the car, it was simply loaned for the weekend with no strings attached.

**However if they would like to pay me to drive one around, I’m all ears 😉
