o for what I do with my time (which is hard to quantify on the best of days) I am generally able to wear what I want, when I want. Gone are my days of temping or working part time in an office to earn some extra cash and with it my suits and twin sets.
When I do have a meeting to attend I feel like I have to hop back into that mode and find something that is me, a little bit more serious and fun all at once. This outfit was sort of thrown together with that sentiment in mind but I like it so much that I think I’ll throw out the ‘tag’ and just wear it casually…back to playing dress ups to find myself something more grown up.
Dress: It’s a British label, Jenny Dyer and I bought it at this little shop in Carlton where The Nova cinema is. I can’t remember the name of the shop but they have lovely dresses….and it’s not Black/Orange in case you are wondering.
Heels: Asos
Bag: Karen Millen
Blazer: Valley Girl
Pearls: Primark, but I’ve seen them around plenty of places in Melbourne
Cuff: I made it
Sunnies: Kinky Gerlinky

svenskaussie- yep, I do like them, even despite all the ‘pearl necklace’ jokes that constantly come my way.
Chi – Answer: not far at all! I tend to wear my ballet pumps to get around in and save these for when I arrive at my meeting/event. Cheating much?!
maria harran- ah how hilarious!! I think that the shop where I bought my dress is called ‘Silk Lane,’ but really there aren’t a whole lot more that I could be talking about so specially if you are local you’ll know what I’m talking about.
chon- hey Chon, thanks for stopping by! So glad that you have liked it so far, here’s to a fashionable 2011 🙂
Girl in Oslo- I temped for years and hated it too, but it doesn’t have to be for life. I hope you get to do something that you love with your time.
Hi girl…
I am a temp,and hating it:)
Have a great day – and greetings from Norway
i have just picked up your blog from the melbourne magazine. can i just say i heart it already! this year i have decided to rediscover my love of fashion (2010 kicked my butt) and this is a great way to gain some inspiration again!
I love the composition of that last shot
So funny you should mention Black/Orange, I walk by their window on a regular basis and wonder who on earth is their buyer/stylist, in dire need of a Lady Melbourne make over!
Sleekit x
Curious:
How far can you travel in those pumps?
Wonderful combo, that dress really suits you and I’m a big fan of those pearls.
