More Shoes: Hobes

It could be said that I don’t need anymore shoes in my life, but after my recent ankle injury I’ve been adding to my collection of flat shoes. Hobes kindly offered me a pair from their current range and at first I wondered if they might be a little bit too ‘casual’ for Lady Melbourne style. The minute I put them on I knew it in my bones that I would find a way to  make them work with my wardrobe and for one simple reason: they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. Big statement and not one I’d just throw out there, but I described them to Georgia from Hobes that it was like ‘wearing butter on my feet.’ Which of course makes no sense whatsoever, butter would melt of immediately but I suppose the description came about because they are so, so soft. Heaven!

I really love the moccasin/desert boot style and have been wearing them with jeans, but they also look super cute with black opaque’s and a mini skirt. Apparently the mustard colour has been so popular it recently sold out(rest assured you can buy them now though!), but they grey suede is another nice alternative that would again suit most wardrobes.

I had to take a picture of the packaging, I couldn’t believe there was a pair of shoes inside!

  1. I love the look of these shoes. I trust you will create a fab outfit to go with them!

  2. Like your glamorous self, I too am nursing a foot injury and immersed with the dilemma of wearing comfortable, dare I say it, sensible shoes. On a recent visit to a podiatrist I was wearing a similar shoe to those above and was told that the thin sole of a mocky was also not doing my foot any favours with its lack of support (must admit, can almost feel the bubble gum on the pavement when I wear mine), but I too find the mocky a comfortable alternative to sensible shoes. Was basically told that any flat shoes that bends back on its self is a no no, so ballet flats out too. What’s left I hear you ask?
In the eyes of the podiatrist we should all be wearing, comfs, trainers, birkenstocks or some monstrosity called crocs, now where’s the fun in that?
I find myself gasping at the thought of wearing trainers with tights and office attire to work (think Melanie Griffith in working girl). I see these people in droves coming out of Flinder St Station and all I can think of is one word, ‘NO!!!!!!’.
Surely we can be stylish and a wee bit sensible at the same time?
In short, I love the new mockies and would love to see some more flat shoe styling on your blog to get me inspired and out of my sensible hole.

    Sleekit x

  4. I like these shoes but have no idea who to wear them. Can’t wait to see some pics of how you’re going to style them.
