Miles Mason Trading Company

My dear friend Kyra from Pybus PR asked if I was at all interested in discovering the Miles Mason Trading Company on Greville St so I popped in last week. Charlotte the owner talked me through the store and the business that she runs with her mother(loved that) and how after 5 years of wholesaling it was time to open her own bricks and mortar shop.

She sent me on my way with some Murchison Hume products, namely the laundry soak because Kyra knew that vintage makes up a big part of my wardrobe and there for hand washing takes up my time. I hand wash 70% of my clothes- there is no way I’d let the natural fibres near a washing machine, let alone a dry cleaner.

The website tells us: “Murchison-Hume Luxury Laundry Soak is: 100% biodegradable and completely free of bleach, optical brighteners, acids, alkalis, solvents, phosphates, nitrates, enzymes, sulfates, sulfonates or any environmental pollutants.”

With that in mind I’m really looking forward to washing my clothes with it, will be sure to let you know how it goes and smells no less(which we all know is important!)

Murchison Hume isn’t all they sell however and I’ve captured some of the other gorgeous homewares they sell as well for you. It’s worth a visit if you are in Melbourne, tell Charlotte hello from Lady M!

MMTC Retail Store | 114 Greville St. Prahran | 03 9529 6359 but you can shop online as well.

Above and below are retro timers that they hand wrap in store. They have magnets on the back so you can stick them to your fridge.

Charlotte sells a range of Lightly products, these 99 bottles were my favourite though by far.

Charlotte and I in store.

Anyone recognise theses? I spent hours watching the Dulton school clocks in high school. Who knew I’d want to put one on my wall all these years later?!

My lovely Murchison Hume products, very much looking forward to trying these out!

  2. Maybe you could give us a little hand washing tutorial? Not as glamorous as other tutorials, but just as important!

  3. Oooh – I live just down the road so will definitely pop in to check out miles mason – thanks for the heads up LM!

PS: I’d love to see a Washing Day with LM post – where you give advice on handwashing* whilst decked out in some vintage goodness, complete with headscarf!
*hope this doesn’t sound crazy but as per Notting Hill Girl’s comment – I’d love some tips on what to wash and with what prods!

  4. yes, reminds me of Aesop too. Sounds like a beautiful product. And this store looks amazing. I miss all the stunning shops in Melbourne (I live on the Gold Coast now). Gosh those parcels in the first photo are perfectly wrapped!

  5. I love the gorgeous bottles! They remind me of Aesop…will definitely pop in when I’m home at Christmas.

I’m curious when you say that you handwash most of your clothes – do you hand wash silk? I spend a small fortune on dry cleaning my silk dresses each month but I’m too scared to hand wash them! NHG x

  6. I use all the cleaning products. The gorgeous smells actually make wiping down the kitchen enjoyable and I especially love the hand wash. Enjoy!
