I attended Crown Oaks Day courtesy of Lavazza a couple of days ago and despite the fact that as I type this I am sick as a dog, I had the most wonderful time.
I didn’t have time for breakfast on the day so when I arrived I had a coffee and filled up on antipasto before getting stuck into the celebrations for the day. I have plenty more with which to update you(what I’m wearing, who was there etc), but for now I’m taking my sneezing, sniveling self back to the couch.
Edit 6/11/11:
I’m still on the couch but have managed to add a few more pictures and details of my delightful day out. Enjoy!

Vanessa Amorosi who’s freshly died platinum locks made her look like a vintage princess.

Ruby Rose and Vanessa Amorosi were both guests, Ruby DJ’ing and Vanessa performing on the day. Everyone wanted their picture but I was most taken with Ruby’s shoes and photographed them. Just as gorgeous?!
What I’m wearing:
Headpiece: This was bought on a trip to Barwon Heads from a bric a brac shop. Chris it’s owner collects all manner of things nautical themed- ropes, jewellery, mermaid salt and pepper shakers, a giant fibreglass shark- everything! He told me that a local elderly man makes these pieces of marlinespike seamanship out of rope and I was so taken with it I bought it immediately. At the time I didn’t know what I would actually do with it, but it did occur to me that it would make a lovely hat, so I attached some elastic and wore it as my headpiece to Oaks Day. It cost me $10.
Dress: Forcast
Gloves: Cyril J Preston Millinery supplies(now closed)
Belt: Dotti
Watch: Longines
p.s- The Gardener was my date and took these shots of me, he can officially be my date any time as far as I’m concerned!

I must visit this magical nautical land immediately! The rope hat is bloody brilliant.

Love the headpiece (and the gloves). Where was it from? As everyone else has said, you look great for being sick. Hope you feel better soon and are getting a little bit of pampering.
Stunning dress. Stunning photos. A-M xx
You look georgeous, even when so are sick
Hi:)
From one sick girl to another:)
Feel better, and take care LM 🙂
Bye
LOVE these photos. I’d love to go over to Melbourne for the races one day, in Perth most of the girlies seem to think that race day means get really drunk and flash your knickers from under your super dooper teeny weeny supre dress. The classic lady look gets lost among the Jack Daniels cans…
I love the little touch of the lace gloves – gorgeous!
Hope you get well soon hun.
Bon
xx
Oohhh… I LOVE the headpiece.
You’re a very stylish sick person Lady M! Love the collared dress and jewelled necklaces. This look is one of my latest obsessions, I can’t get enough of Peter Pan collars. Get well soon x
