Discovering new things in and around Melbourne is a big part of what I do on Lady Melbourne- and then blogging about it of course! You might remember that I blogged recently about discovering Origen Imports in South Melbourne and their delightful owner Rose Marie. I had the most amazing day discovering textiles from Thailand, jewellery from Guatemala all the while trying not to look unladylike while I feasted on Turkish delight.
They have a couple of stores around Melbourne and these Ayala Bar earrings are from their Malvern Central boutique. Ayala is an Israeli artist and designer and as far as I know Origen is one of her only stockists in Australia. Her pieces are more often than not one off and you can see why in the details- tiny little silver bumble bees coupled with coins and fabric.
My choice was what you see in the photos below and I believe they are from this collection that I found on her website. I can’t see these exact earrings, so again it goes back to the ‘one-off’ aspect but Rose Marie has a terrific selection in store.
I am so thrilled to have discovered this amazing designer, and that I can buy them from a store here in Melbourne that has a whole lotta heart and soul. The relationships that Origen has with all the suppliers to their stores is authentic and goes to the heart of what they are trying to promote- diversity.

I nearly bought the same pair of earrings while I was in Israel and found Origen yesterday on a chance visit to Malvern Central. I agree, it’s a very cool little store with some unusual pieces for sale.
beautiful earrings and necklace. this look so gorgeous and lovely jewellery. looking forward for the new updates.
My mother has been a huge fan of Ayala Bar for 10 years now, she has over 40 pairs of her earrings. Amazing workmanship.
You can also find Ayala Bar at Kam Otto (in QV but they are moving soon) as well as Scally and Trombone in Brunswick Street. If I am not mistaken Husk used to sell them too, but no longer.
I also manage to find a few special pieces for mum on eBay but of course there is always the chance that you’re not quite certain of their authenticity.
Wow look at all those inspiring pieces! They are very exotic!
looks like a beautiful store

I managed a boutique many years back that carried Ayala Bar, so I was very excited to see this post! Ayala’s intricate fabric work is divine and quite unique as far as Israeli jewellery goes, which is usually easily identifiable by certain traits (much like Italian jewellery) but Ayala has a style that’s really her own.
Very bohemian, and very cool 🙂
Maybe they ship?
Have a great day from a sunny Oslo:)
Beautiful earrings, and I love the pictures of inside the store, it’s got such nice decoration.
