Catherine Leon caught my eye from a simple press release that dropped into my inbox recently. As is my want I asked if I could pop in to meet her and view the current collection and whats ahead for S/S.
What you see me wearing and in the screen grabs below is from her ‘One Moment’ collection that is in store at the moment. It caught my eye because when I first saw it it just said ‘Melbourne,’ to me. It’s actually inspired by Machu Picchu and a trip that Catherine did to her homeland Peru. I loved that she’s been able to fuse the colours of somewhere so far flung, ancient and sacred into a collection that to me translates easily onto the streets of Melbourne.
Above in the animated .GIF(which always makes me feel like I’ve acheived something HUGELY important when I make one, sort of like when Dale from The Castle dug a hole) I’m wearing the ‘Napoleon’ coat which has been a big seller and I can understand why.
There is a sneak peek of the up coming S/S ’12 collection below that is dropping in store soon, and Catherine will be showing at Melbourne Spring Fashion Week in September. Expect plenty more to come from this amazing Melbourne designer who is one of my new favs!

Yeah, soooooo…
If I can please have one of everything in a Men’s cut, that would be swell.
Thanks.

You ladies get all the great clothes!
Catherine Leon: If you do a Men’s line, I will totally bake you cookies. Or wine. I’m not sure how, but I will find a way to bake wine.

Such a great collection!
As you said, it looks like she was inspired by Melbourne. I love the origami collars on the jackets and have been seriously crushing on the sequined tops to wear with jeans.
Can’t wait to see what she puts out down the September runway!
Cheers,
Laura

Very beautiful, very wearable and very Melbourne.
This is a gorgeous collection! I especially love the skirt in the last photo – am checking out her website now!
She has some really great clothes 🙂
Have a great weekend!
Love the sparkle love the shapes… it’s rare to see such a modern sophisticated ‘Peru’ theme… Machu Picchu style is usually more closely associated with the hacky sack! Have a great weekend Lady M!
