Beauty Review: Blue Eye Liner

Lady Melbourne trying blue eyeliner

Black eye liner is great, specially when you can get a nice straight line, but how about branching out into different colours? And how do you do it without looking like an 80s throw-back? Unless you want to look like that, in which case draw onto your eyelids with wild, blue toned abandon.

I digress.

A little bit sick of wearing black all the time, I’ve tried blue of late and I’m quite enjoying myself with it. As you’ll be able to see below, the beauty of wearing coloured eyeliner is that you can subtly change the colour by applying eye shadow on top. This also makes for longer wearing liner as well by ‘setting’ it.

Next stop purple? Bronze? Suggestions?

Using the ‘Raina Contrast Eye Pencil’ in navy from Sumita. Lovely, high quality, high pigment product.

I’m using my custom Sephora eyeshadow kit I made up when I was in New York last year. This colour is called ‘Denim.’

Using the ‘Chai Eye Brow Pencil’ also by Sumita in the shade ‘light.’

I don’t usually use Rimmel products, but I’ve enjoyed using this 123 Looks Mascara that was given to me in a show bag at fashion week. You can get nice, long black lashes (just what I like!) and it isn’t clumpy either.

  1. You should try Stila Liquid Liner in Midnight, it’s amazing.

  2. I will try my blue liner again 🙂

  3. With blue black hair and dark olive skin, I struggle with lighter colours as eyeliner, I just don’t feel like they give me the same pop as black does. I have also worn jet black winged liner since I was 13, so 19 years later I cant break the habit without feeling naked.
LOVE this look on you though, I think if I had lighter skin and hair I would love it on myself too. xx

  4. PS thank you for the post and your eyes look great. Maybe I will revisit blue eye liner……

  5. Laughing out loud! “…without looking like an 80’s throw-back…” The last time I wore blue eye liner was in 1987, that particular night I also wore a cute little white frock with a peplum. Very on trend 2014……

  6. I love coloured liners, The first colour I ever bought was purple and found it so easy to wear, now I’ll wear any colour I can think of because life’s too short! Blue seems to be my favourite colour at the moment though, namely because of my new acquisition of the Lime Crime liquid blue liner and the Eye of Horus blue pencil liner. They’re both gorgeous colours I recommend you check them out!
