Beauty Review: Glow Lab

Glow Lab range of products

Glow Lab: made in a laboratory where scientists work on making you…glow? Tapping into the current zitgeist of ‘glowing’ and ‘wellness,’ this New Zealand brand is taking on the affordable end of the beauty market.

Their website tells us:

With lives that are busier than ever, women told us they need skincare solutions that tick all the boxes: effective, natural, luxurious and affordable. These insights began our Glow Lab journey – to develop a natural skincare range that works.

With this in mind, I set out to give some of their products a go. Purchased at Priceline here in Oz, the Micellar Water (RRP $11.99AUS) was the first item I tried and I have a confession to make: I bought it because of the packaging. I was in need of micellar water and when I saw this one it just looked so luxe and appealing I bought it on the spot. Not at all how I would usually purchase beauty products, in fact the complete opposite of how I shop. *excessive googling, reading reviews, watching youtube vids, price comparing and finally trying in store*

The verdict? A new favourite in my beauty cabinet. It doesn’t make my eyes sting like say the Nivea Sensitive Care Micellar Water which I’m currently trialling (spoiler: don’t love it). The consistency’s light, it removed all of my eye makeup in one or two swipes and the huge bottle lasts for ages. In the expectation v.s reality stakes, this one punches far above its weight. Love it.

The Gel Cleanser (RRP $15.00) is actually a little bit less ‘powerful’ than it says it is, but for the price is an excellent complete face cleanser. Maybe it says more about the amount of makeup I sometimes wear (!), but I found if I hadn’t removed my eye makeup first, I would have to wash my face twice to get it all off. On makeup free days it cleanses to perfection.

Trialling the other products has been a little bit more hit and miss so I can’t talk about results just yet. I can tell you that in terms of touch, scent and how they feel on your face, they tick a lot of boxes. I like my moisturiser with and SPF component and this doesn’t have it, however it’s light and gentle. For the lacking SPF component alone, I wouldn’t buy this product again, but not because of any other attributes – I’m fussy with my moisturiser! You can read all my about my love of SPF in these posts.

I’ve experienced no reaction with any of these Glow Lab products and can say that considering you can pick them up at Priceline or Woolworths for a song, they’re worth it.

And if like me you judge a book by its cover, how could you go past them? They look great on my bathroom #shelfie 😉
