Annabella-Rose London

A couple of weeks back I wrote about the reasons why I started the blog and why I dress the way that I do. I was reminded of that when I was thinking about this blog post, because it’s another classic example of pulling together clothes and accessories from a wide range of places.

Just before I left for New York I was in Savers rummaging through their ‘Collectors’ corner for home wares and porcelain which is opposite the dress section. I don’t make a habit of buying clothes at Savers anymore because I think their prices are too high for essentially second hand clothes that they tag as ‘vintage.’ A whole other blog post right there!

Anyhow as a bower bird with an eye for all things black/blue and white, I spied the hem of this Wendy Heather dress peeking out and fished it out. It’s a classic 1980s number that I’ve had to make some alterations to in that it was too big for me and probably still is in some places.

Wendy Heather was a really prominent label here in Australia in the 1980s and 1990s, and in my research for this blog post I happened upon this fabulous TVC Wendy did for Rexona in 1990:

As mentioned in my previous blog post ‘Stay In The Sunlight,‘ the weather in Melbourne is warm at the moment so while I didn’t think this dress would see the light of day for another month at least, I can wear it.

So, around to my original point! It’s a great example of how I would mix a vintage dress with new heels and in this case they are from a new London based designer, Annabella-Rose. When designer Sarah-Jane reached out to me I jumped at the chance to wear a pair of her heels. Aside from the fact that she’s just starting up, I thought her small collection was wild and almost a little bit out of my comfort zone. But what is fashion if not trying new things?

I hope to keep an eye on what Sarah-Jane gets up to with Annabelle-Rose because I expect big things!
