In search of the perfect blue jean

Lady Melbourne wearing Oasis 'Isabella' skinny jeans

What would you say are the ingredients for the perfect pair of jeans? I suspect it will be different for most people depending on taste, however I’d wager there would be commonalities.

Percentage of elastine, weight of fabric, the rise of the waist- all of these things contribute to how the denim actually fits, or rather sits on one’s body.

Not usually a fan of buying jeans online, I did spy these ‘Isabella Skinny Crop Ripped Jeans‘ on Oasis and liked the look of them. Mostly cotton and described as ‘soft,’ in fabrication, the cropped length and ankle zips also appealed as I’m a/not very tall and b/lent an edge to the overall look.

The main reason I don’t buy denim online is because of sizing. Unless you are absolutely sure of your size in a specific style I think it’s near impossible to tell if you’re buying the right size or get an idea of how they will fit. One size just doesn’t fit all.

That said I just couldn’t go past these in my selection of key pieces from Oasis’s new arrivals and while I pondered over all of the above I have to say….I’m thrilled with them! They’re a very soft fabrication, with enough stretch to make them comfortable, but they won’t go out of shape. On a taller gal they might look like capris, on me a 162cm they graze my ankle but that’s how I wear a lot of my jeans. The size 10 looked small when they arrived but I twerked my way into them and they’ve softened as I’ve worn them to really be quite a perfect fit.

  1. Love the jeans but they only have sz 14 left 🙁

  2. They aren’t low slung, I wouldn’t say they are high waisted jeans but they sit high enough that your tummy area is covered. Just on my belly button and they’re great at the back too. Hope that helps!

  3. Oh I know, I can’t wear anything remotely ‘nineties’!

  4. My goodness! I was wearing zip sided jeans in the 1980’s. Amazing that everything old is new again

  5. What great looking jeans! Being 160cm as well I always end up having to chop a good 10-15cm off the ends, which usually ruins the tailoring of the jeans (and feels like a complete waste). Can you tell me how high these jeans sit on the waist? While I don’t like super high, low slung is much worse! Thanking you in advance 🙂
