I really love this outfit and enjoyed wearing it over the (dismal) summer months. I’d like to continue to wear it, or a variation of it but I’m not quite sure what combination to employ. These are my questions:
Are boots to ‘heavy’ with such a light coloured dress and fabric?
The jacket is too light with short sleeves, but will a trench just cover up the dress?
Would a motorcycle leather jacket be too much?
I’m thinking if I wear it with opaque black tights, stream lined heels, black leather gloves(or, these could be in a complimentary but opposing colour) and either my cropped leather jacket or a trench. Same bag.
My fashion instinct tells me that opaque tights would look silly with these shoes but if you have other thoughts do let me know!

I think it’s difficult to “winterize” an obviously summer dress. As it is more of a lemon yellow, I would avoid black and instead team it with softer winter pieces and accessories. I think it would look nice with over the knee suede boots in either a grey or brown shade and a complementary jacket. Think Willow.
In relation to my comment above. hear issomehting i came up with photoshop and H&M’s dressing room function.
Just that the cape is the color you have.
without cape

a pair of tights maybe? and the boots. wear the dress and white jacket and maybe match with the cape from Asos?
that way, you block the wind and chill out and can take off the cape when it’s warmer in. Or a navy trench with the look above and some ankle boots is great.
That’s what i think.
I think all black would be too heavy. If you have soft grey tights and shoes that would provide a winter look without being too overwhelming. I always like yellow and grey as a combination!
I would wear it with, like you said a trench or your cropped biker jacket. Maybe not leather gloves if you go for the latter as that could be leather overkill! I think black opaques could work with those shoes but it’d look better overall with ones that aren’t open at the back. How about some of your wedge heels? Or your new Oliver & Co flats? I’m sure you’ll pull something off either way.Good luck Lady M! x
Lady I am considering these clogs for winter wear with deep burgandy or olive matte tights. Are they comfortable? Do they stay on ones feel easily and good to walk in like most platform clogs? I adore them.
xx
Unfortunately it’s always hard to make beautiful summer dresses such as that one appropriate for winter. I think if you’re going to wear tights with it try seamed tights, they just look a look less thick and wintery then normal tights.
I would wear a camel/tan colour jacket/trench, with brown/tan leather boots. You can opt for black, however I feel that a warm colour would go better with a summer dress. You could try wearing some patterned stocking (striped or polka dot) but thats just me adding a bit of pattern into the outfit! Tie the whole outfit together, with a brown belt, or a brightly coloured one (if you have any). Have fun and be creative, and don’t be afraid to try new combinations! 🙂
I like the mix of soft styles with black leather so I’m with you on the outfit front. I also wear opaque tights with everything so I would wear them with those shoes, but you might also like to try some long socks?
Perhaps try brown or cognac accessories if you have them. The juxtaposition of the heavy boots with the light dress may provide a solid contrast that looks deliberate.
How cold does it get there? (I ask as I’m Canadian so cold is relative?)
Maybe black semi opaque tights, black pumps (heels) and a skinny black belt ?? Add a black scarf and a black blazer and you’re done!!
I think a motorcycle jacket would be too heavy. I’d keep it light with a trench, cashmere scarf for warmth and nude boots, maybe ankle-length with a nice heel!
I’m so jealous you can wear this colour yellow! It looks beautiful with your hair colour!
