My new sweater

I’ve had my eye out for a pom pom sweater for ages so to randomly stumble upon this in a shop in Melbourne gave me all sorts of joy. The sales assistant looked at me like, ‘Really? You really want to purchase this?’ but I think the gif above shows just how happy I am(if you want to watch it again just refresh the page).

I like clothes that have a quirky and humorous edge and I think that what ever you wear it should make you happy. I bumped into Coffee Boy(potentially a new character on the blog) the other day who used to make my coffee when I worked part time as a PA in town to supplement my income. In trying to remember each other I said, ‘Oh well I used to dress quite differently, I was probably in corporate attire when I used to come here.’
‘No I don’t really think so, I don’t think you could classify the way you used to dress as corporate. It was more like, ‘well I have to wear this but you should all know that I have a life out of work and love fashion.’

I always thought that I towed the corporate line quite well so it was a jolt to hear someone else who really I barely know to give such succinct analysis of how you are perceived. Has that ever happened to you? We both laughed about it, you can’t take yourself that seriously but I suppose it showed me that way before the blog took off there was tragic fashionista screaming to get out.

  1. Yay I love pom-pom jumpers. I have a pink one 🙂 They are just so fun.

  2. If I had any idea so many of you wore or liked pom pom jumpers I would have busted this out ages ago. It sure does make me happy 🙂

  3. oooh look forward to you sharing the inifinite wisdoms of the coffee boy;)

….all I can say is that I wouldn’t have had the idea for my blog if I wasn’t a creative bound in a conservative corporate role.

and freaking awesome gif, lady M. awesome.

  4. adorable ;°)

  5. This looks so cute on you. You’ve got the look to pull it off- I think it would look silly on me 🙁

  6. thankfully I can wear whatever I like to work, being a graphic designer, anything goes really, some days my boss just looks and says nothing we have an understanding about my quirky fashion sense

fashion should be fun and that is a fun jumper

    have a great weekend

    Sleekit x

  7. Shoes, that is how I unleash my inner fashionista while required to be constricted in corporate wear. It has become a bit of a thing for my colleagues to check out my shoes.

Love the pom-pom jumper, I have an 80s number that my mum knitted for me, sadly my daughter loves it too much for it to grace me back any longer…

  8. Hi girl.

  10. Lady Melbourne, i think i you should know that i saw some pom pom sweaters at Dangerfield last week. they are cute but i just can’t remember what colours they had. (i looked at so many sweaters that day).

  11. Look forward to ‘meeting’ Coffee Boy on your blog LM!

  12. Awww, that gif is so adorable!

  13. Coffee boy summed it up perfectly! I am in that exact predicament now… Working in the corporate world, but my love is for fashion. It’s hard to balance the two, but if you can show that “I have a life outside of work and I love fashion”, then you’re still being true to yourself 🙂

And, love the pom poms. Happy dance is totally justified. Definitely a momentous occasion!

    xo, Lisa.

  14. I love it. I think fashion should be fun. Nothing worse than someone who wears something simply because it is considered by others to be “cool” .

  15. I HAVE A POM POM JUMPER TOO! *jumps up and down with excitement* Mine is mustard. Don’t they ROCK? 🙂

  16. Haha this post made me laugh. You are the best Lady M.

  17. You are a woman after my own heart! Firstly, props for that marvellous sweater. Secondly, you know how I love me an animated gif!

I think I’ve been pretty lucky; I’ve always worked in the creative industries, so I’ve never had to don corporate attire, nor has there ever been any expectation that I should dress a certain way. Thank god!

  18. Lady M I object to the word “sweater”! Jumper, please.

  19. I think that’s actually an excellent compliment to receive 🙂 Showcasing your love of life and fashion in a corporate ensemble is a talent!

And that gif is too cute! (As is your delightful sweater.)
