From the blog post ‘Curious Objects’ in April 2008
I have blogging fatigue. I’m stuck. I literally have no idea what to blog about and haven’t for a week now.
This is my 6th year blogging and luckily after well over 1000 blog posts this sort of thing has only happened a couple of times so I’m almost sort of shocked and don’t know what to do!
What do you do when you are stuck in a blogging rut? I’ve been out there scouring your blogs and there is so much inspiration but I almost don’t know where to start now.
Instead I’ve stepped back in time and had a look at past blog posts that I’m going to share with you below. For newer readers you’ll get to see past blog posts that are years old(read: shorter hair, possible fashion crimes) and for old time readers it’ll be a trip down memory lane.
Here’s hoping my mojo comes back sooner rather than later!

I like to hear more about your vintage clothing, things like how you date (era) your vintage clothing. Along with how to identfiy vintage clothing.
[…] 2012 – 09:52 PM | 0 Comments TweetI’ve got to say a he-uge thank you for your comments on my previous post about having blogging fatigue. I really struggled with whether or not to blog about it because it’s not really in the style […]
It was so great seeing the past posts and how your look and style has grown over time.
i agree with Girl in Oslo, post about “how to run/build your own business” would be wonderful. But I haven’t noticed you have been having writer block, your blog has been as lovely as ever!
I find going of a long walk always helps. Inspiration always comes when I don’t have a pen and paper or iphone handy.
Fresh air and exercise cures everything!
When I’m in a rut with my own blog, I find it best to step away from the computer altogether. Perusing other people’s blogs can sometimes be inspiring, but usually I find that it is overwhelming and just adds to the blogging fatigue. If I put it firmly out of mind for a couple of days and focus on being in the moment whilst doing things that I love, the urge and inspiration to blog usually pops up along the way. Good luck Lady Melbourne!
Lovely You!!!

i find if i leave the house, go out shopping, some friends helps. When i start thinking about something i just grab my phone out and upload the post through the application.
It seems like your trip to your blog’s past helped a little! I hope you manage to find some inspiration again. 🙂
I love the flashback to your older blog posts! 🙂
Hope you get over blog-block soon as I really enjoy your posts 🙂
What about a post on ways you avoid blogging when you have blog writers block? I’m guessing you have tea somewhere nice, maybe shop a little?

I suggest that you have you select a different theme for every week this way you will never run out of idea’s Lady M.I have alway’s wanted to tell you this, you could be Coco Chanel one week and Marie Antoinette the next, I hope you think about it at least, as you do love dressing up !
I agree with Girl in Oslo – tells about how and why you started blogging those 6 years ago!
Hang in there and let yourself be inspired by whatever intrigues you enough. You must know, your fellow fan readers adore your posts and will happily wait patiently for you to get your groove back. Good luck!
I love the red duffel coat – what a nice little look into past blog posts! I hope I have the same blogging longevity that you do.

Hi again sweety:)
I have a suggestion for you!
As a woman running your own business, and as far as I can see doing a great job:) I am sure many girls out there would like to know how you did it!
Sort of a “how to run/build your own business” as a woman type of blog series!
Hope you understand:)
Have a great evening since you are approx 8 hours ahead of us:)
I have so been there on and off at times!
But thing I have found is that inspiration is all around you! My advice is to calm down/breath and it will come to you:) your blog is to great to give up on:)
God luck from a summery Oslo:)

Use this time as a transition. A new season begins, days will be shorter and goals and objections will change. Where will this be reflected in your life? Do you clean out your wardrobe to get ready for autumn leaves to fall, do you change the decor of your house to make it more cosy to enjoy a warm drink late at night? Think about the things that make you happy, the rituals you go through and start from there. And be kind to yourself. Creativity takes a lot out of people, and it is hard to keep it constant. Sometimes the droughts produce the most beautiful creative waterfalls of life!
I like Lou Pardi’s idea about interiors. I remember waaayyy back you showed pictures of your living room and it was gorgeously decorated, And I recall you did a few here and there on pictures/pints you’d picked up. You definitely have an eye for it and it definitely seems to reflect your fashion philosophy.
Mind you I also love the times you spotlight a local designer here in Melbourne. Before coming across your blog I had no real idea of the amazing creative gems that are hidden all over town.
I’d love to hear the stories behind some of your favourite trinkets and pieces of clothing – what events and memories they remind you of.
Also I think you would be incredible at interior decorating tips!
Your mojo will be back before you know it. I’m pretty sure it’s down the back of your chic couch…
xx
What about putting a call out for post requests. Things readers would like your take on?
For example, I’d be interested to know what you consider to be good “cost per wear”. I wonder about this often.
I also love to know which items in your wardrobe you have thrashed and what things you loved and bought, but never wore. The top you cannot work out how to wear, the shoes you can’t walk in, and your favourite underwear that came from K-Mart…
I read a great article on fashion confessions, stupid, secret things we do, I wear fake hair, my watch cost $20, I wear tall tights even though I am short and pull them up to meet my bra, I never wear matching socks…
Good luck, get inspired, we are at the start of a new season. There you go – what’s on your winter wishlist.

Good excuse to go shopping and write about it maybe?

always nice for us newer readers to see some of the original posts!
whenever I’m stuck I just look around me and post the things which are making me smile right now – new lipstick to biscuits to flowers to a new piece for my closet, anything at all I’m loving that moment.x
