Firstly: hows the light in these photos? It looks studio lit but it’s just the late afternoon, winter sun and I think it reflects off the tin roof of the garage. I think its amazing and have realised that I don’t use it enough really.
Anyhow!

In June this year it was reported that the new creative director of Yves Saint Laurent, Hedi Slimane, was set to change the name of the iconic Parisian label. It has been known as ‘Yves Saint Laurent’ for more than half a century but Slimane’s vision will have it known as ‘Saint Laurent Paris,’ a nod to 1966 when the ready-to-wear line was launched and called ‘Saint Laurent Rive Gauche.’
The logo is arguably as recognisable as Chanel’s interlocked double C or Louis Vuitton’s LV and so it has raised many an eyebrow in fashion circles world wide that Slimane, previously of Dior Homme, would make such a move.

So what did I do? I went onto Etsy the moment I heard(via Twitter of course) and bought myself a little piece of this iconic label.

It’s an remarkable paragraph for all the internet people; they will take benefit from it I am sure.

Great move! And amazing find! The workmanship is incredible, you wear it so well!
Think it would be a damage to their brand if they really want to remove the “Y”. Saint Lauren can be anyone.
Love your style and the blazer looks perfect on you. I’ve recently launched my website selling quirky and playful design. Thought you might be interested in the jewelry and the vintage glasses section. Check them out at http://www.theflyingroom.com/ 🙂
Looking forward to seeing more of your mix and match inspiration!
Now that, my dear, is style – and without accessories, or very few. Miss Donna and I are at one on this.
Thank you for the valuable info. I’m going to scout for YSL stuff.
late afternoon light rocks 😉
will be very interested to see where ysl take this now…

Sorry team, just realised how long that comment is!
Now I dabble in some high street fashion trends, but I’m no fashionista – so would be interested to hear what the LM community thinks…
Even in my fashion world I have heard about the arrival of the new creative director and potential name change. All the blogs I follow have talked about it, when perhaps they would not have had the change not been rumoured. Also, my understanding is that the logo will remain the same. And by incorporating into their messaging that this is actually a nod to their history – could this be the most clever move to get viral fashion marketing happening?
They are somehow fusing together in the one tactical message rebranding, nostalgic branding, viral marketing, communicating the change in creative director all while keeping their most valuable brand asset – their logo – the same.
Fashion circles are talking about them and driving up the value of their current and past collections and they haven’t even had to run an actual campaign to do it. Now we all wait in anticipation on their next move…
Regardless of all this though, there is no denying that Blazer is absolutely stunning Lady M and I LOVE that 70’s campaign image!!! x
I have been dreaming about the Arty ring for a long time 🙂 I know a bit off topic…
Have a great day
Even if I didn’t know that this is Yves I would still love it – the proportions of the Blazer are perfect for your style. You picked really well, especially considering the amount of really questionable, 80’s YSL there is getting about on etsy.
THAT LIGHTING THOUGH!
When I saw the first picture I literally gasped! The lighting is superb. I am in dire need of getting my photography in better order – my photos are usually taken after 5:00 PM – which in Canberra may as well be midnight!
Xx
I can not believe they are changing the name. It’s just STUPIDD!!
Beautiful vintage blazer 🙂

Your YSL is divine!
