Wearing Forever New to the Blue Mountains Winter Ball

A couple of weeks back I went to a rather fancy affair at the invitation of The Gardener. Usually it’s me producing the invitations but this time around it was he who asked me to attend the annual Blue Mountains Winter Ball.

It went something like this:

LM: “I’m thinking about going away for the long weekend, do you have anything planned?”
TG: “The long weekend…I don’t know but I think I’m going away next weekend. To a ball or something in Sydney.”
LM: “Excoisemoi? Next week? You’re going to a ball?”
TG: “Yeah.”
LM: “As in a black tie event. A ball. An after 5 do. That you would normally attend with a partner.”
TG: “Yeah that’s right, you’re invited.”
LM: Head spontaneously combusts.

The invitation specified ‘black tie,’ and although you see me dressed up on the blog every other day of the week, I don’t often have the occasion for black tie. What is also worth noting is that I was given about 6 days notice before the actual event so a little bit LOT of panic set in when I found out.

I reached out to Forever New who I remembered did some quite amazing evening wear in one of their collections last year that I previewed in this blog post. As it turns out, they had a single dress in their current collection that was floor length and suitable for a black tie event. The J’Adore Soft Floral Maxi was sent out to me sight unseen and arrived the day before I left for Sydney to attend the ball. It left a very slim margin in case it a/didn’t fit or b/ didn’t suit but I was over the moon to discover that it ticked both those boxes.

I wore it with the Hera Platform heels and matching jewellery as you can see in the photos.

So thank you so very much for helping me with a very last minute request Forever New, I felt like the belle of the ball, albeit a very last minute one!
