You should most definitely consider a visit to The High Line while in New York, if for no other reason than because of the historical significance of the area to the city, and because of what it has become.
“The High Line is a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattanโs West Side. It is owned by the City of New York, and maintained and operated by Friends of the High Line. Founded in 1999 by community residents, Friends of the High Line fought for the High Lineโs preservation and transformation at a time when the historic structure was under the threat of demolition.”
Wandering around the Meatpacking district (where the High Line is situated) that is now home to luxury condos and boutique shopping, you can still very much get the sense of what the streets may have been like only 50 years ago, let alone 100 when ‘meat-packing’ was quite literally, in full swing.
As you can see in the photos, Diane Von Furstenberg’s global HQ is behind me, and she keeps company with the likes of Moschino and Alexander McQueen. We popped into The Standard hotel built above the High Line, that I’m told is the place to stay when in New York and if the pinot gris they served up was anything to go by, I’d stay there in a heart beat.
It is old and new jammed up against each other, a perfect analogy of New York really.

Love the last photo.
Seemed like you had an amazing time in NY.
The weather looked like it was so lovely. Far different to the weather that we are experiencing here in Melbourne.

DVF is perfect for you (but then it is for most women), and the last photo in this set is a Lady M classic which should be preserved.
