Stretch clothes that look good

Ah Karl Largerfeld, heard of him? Just casually heading up the Chanel empire for the last 30 odd years, and also famous for his more controversial quotes on how to live ones life. Take this for example:

“Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.”

One part of me thinks, ‘GENIUS!’ the other part, the part more grounded in reality is like, ‘Karl, if losing control of my life means experiencing the joy of ripping off high waisted skinny jeans and my bra at the end of the day and pulling on the lycra, I surrender.’

You can however find clothing that sits in the middle of all of this, and that’s by looking for heavier fabrics with stretch.

Both the sweater and skirt in this blog post are stretch, but woven from a heavier denier yarn, meaning they won’t cling in unflattering places or  lose their shape. You’ll usually end up paying a bit more, but look for heavy ponte jersey, scuba fabric, or knits with a nylon blend. If you want to get the feel of sweatpants without Karl’s judgement, this is your answer!

What I’m wearing:
Sweater: CM by Camilla and Marc from Glue Store – viscose/nylon/lycra blend
Skirt: Feathers – viscose/nylon/lycra blend
Heels: Nine West, purchased in New York last year
Watch: Daniel Wellington
Jewellery: Ottoman Treasures
Glasses: Gucci
Clutch: MOZI Australia
