On the street….Lt Lonsdale

The latest character to grace these pages is my gardener, or the gardener and I don’t mind that the person in question chose such a mysterious name for themselves. I always ask my friends who otherwise don’t want to be named on the blog to come up with an alter-ego for themselves(Lois Lane, Dr.Jones, Mother Melbourne etc) so the gardener it is.

Why I am telling you this is because he took these photos of me today in Lt Lonsdale St, down one of Melbourne’s many lane ways. He’s quite handy with a camera don’t you think?!

This dropped into my inbox today from Lady Bracknell and made me realise just how casual I have been appearing on the blog of late:

You look sweet in you matinee garb and a campaign to dress up for big occasions is admirable, but haven’t I seen that nice dress several times before?Β  I think you fans were distracted by the handbag. InΒ  Lady Bracknell’s opinion time for you to get out and about … and a couple of GLAMOR POSTINGS, which have been missing in action quite for a while.”

I will try harder Lady B and readers, perhaps tomorrow I can go all out and get back to some LadyΒ  Melbourne basics: heels and a killer frock!

  1. Forgot to say- LOVE the scarf. Beautiful.

  2. Totally agree with Alicia. What you wore that day should BE what you wore that day.

I think maybe you just have a little admirer who wants to see you in more dresses πŸ˜‰

  3. I love day-to-day casual!… only for selfish reasons though, as I never get to ever really dress/glam up… you make me feel somewhat normal! πŸ™‚ … AND i do live vicariously through your blog babes!

  4. Hi Beautiful!
Wow I really love what you are wearing. I must commend your choice of colours; baby pink, rainy day grey, pure white, country town brown. πŸ™‚
I have talked you to before through Facebook and email I think but I should intro again! teheee <3

I am 19 years old and I study Fashion at RMIT University. I have a twin sis and its our dream to become successful designers πŸ™‚ β™₯ .I would love to have you as a contact and perhaps we could work together in the future, using your amazing expertise πŸ˜‰ β™₯ xox

  5. I may have jumped into the conversation a bit late. I’ve been reading blogs for several years now and it used to be that everyone was always dressed to the nines. Now, as bloggers get older, more experienced, more relaxed, they’re feeling more casual and more able to to be themselves amongst their readers. I find this refreshing!

  6. Im on the Alicia bandwagon. Having variety is really good though. I love reading a local blog, the only other quality style blogs Im really interested (thats not to say there arent good blogs from Aus) are from America so its lovely having a Melbourne girl on my blog roll.

  7. *Hands up* – I agree with Alicia too. I don’t mind if you decide to post glamorous or casual looks. I just love visiting your blog. Simple really ;).

  8. I agree! Post what you’re wearing. Glam outfit every now and then wouldn’t hurt, but most of us don’t wear heels and killer dresses everyday so we like to see more everyday wearable fashion.
Keep up the great work! Love your blog!

  9. im in love with seeing what you wear anyday, whether its dressy or casua. both are inspiring πŸ™‚ x

  10. LM, you always look so stylish!
Lovely photos.. compliments to ‘the gardener!’
Personally, I think that although it is wonderful to see a glamorous outfit I love to see what bloggers are wearing from day to day.. Whether it be glamorous or not so glam! πŸ™‚

    luv
    trendy melbourne

  12. I also agree with Alicia, if you were glammed up to the nines ALL the time I wouldn’t enjoy your posts so much.
I do enjoy the occassional “glam” post but I love your handy hints, stylish outfits (for everyday, not just for the glam/dolled up to the nine times) and your words of wisdom!

  13. I actually saw you in the city today… well to be exact at the train station. I didn’t know it was “Lady Melbourne” initially. What caught my eye was your lovely outfit and the beautiful colour tones… the pics don’t even give it justice! Please keep blogging your “real” outfits as they are lovely!

  14. I too agree with Alicia. I prefer to see what bloggers are wearing day to day. Even if they stayed in casual gear most of the time.
    It wouldn’t bother me.
Don’t get me wrong it is lovely to dress up, but I like to see inside their everyday world via blogging.

  15. Where did you get all the Zara from? From overseas trip?

  16. I agree alicia.. lady melbourne i follow your blog because i luv luv luv they way you present yourself… whether your glam or just going casual…. this out fit is gorgeous its relaxed yet classy πŸ™‚

  17. Cute bag and scardf πŸ™‚

  18. Basically you hit the nail on the head Alicia- I was at a photoshoot, then lunch, then a coffee date, checking my PO BOX and home to blog. And this is exactly what I wore!
    xx

  19. Very vocal fans, LM!

I believe that personal fashion, or “What I Wore Today” posts should be honest, and not hammed up for the sake of producing something glamorous for the readers. Provided you intend to start dressing more glamorously because you WANT to, and not because your readers are worried you’ve become a bit relaxed in your everyday style – then bring it on!

But I prefer to see what bloggers are really wearing, and if that’s jeans and a t-shirt then that’s excellent too.
I love this outfit because it’s relaxed, stylish and realistic for heading out to grab a coffee or run some errands.

    xo
