DIY crystal cuff

When The Gardener presented me with this orange, resin, cuff for my birthday earlier in the year it was quite a funny situation: he knows good and well about my aversion to orange but bought it anyway because he liked it. Soooooo sweet no? But I wasn’t going to change my mind about orange overnight and he knows how stubborn I can be.

So it has sat there, unworn for months on end until I popped in to Maria’s Beads and Trims (used to be Maria George) in the Nicholas Building the other day. I used to buy my beads there when I had my accessories label(and was delighted to discover that my wholesale account is still active).

I was looking for a mixture of Swarovski crystals and large acrylic beads that I could use to cover the majority of the ‘orangeness’ while still retaining something of the original cuff. The shape perhaps.

Anyhow all I did was stick them on in a random fashion using good old Tarzan’s Grip which is a fabulous little glue that is relatively fast drying but really, really strong. I used the same technique that I did for these cuffs that have featured time and time again on Lady M.

What I have also trialled in these photos is a really neat new technique of instagram filters as photoshop actions that I found on dBox. I knew that some smart cookie out there had created a way to recreate the look you get from Instagram. What do you think? I’m not sure I’ll use it all time but its nice to try new things.
