I haven’t posted about this dress in quite a while and it’s one of my favourites. I have to admit that it’s hard to wear in winter time but today it was an incredible 18 degrees so out it came for a good dusting off! I wrote about it in this blog post called ‘The Dress I Dreamt About As A Child.’
In my last blog post I launched my eBook ‘The Ins & Outs of A Media Kit For Bloggers‘ of which I’m proud as punch, and it’s now got me thinking about my next one. I thought that a book on media kits for bloggers was a good entry point, as it’s what I get asked about all the time. The other hot topic people want to know about is photography and these photos are a great example of just how far I’m come as someone who is largely self taught.
There is no photoshop work on these images and no artificial light. It’s simply a case of spotting natural light and knowing how to use your DSLR camera. I’m sure there are plenty of you reading this that own one and just keep it on ‘Automatic’ setting right?! I was like that for most of my first year owning a DSLR(2009) until I smartened up and learnt how to use the various settings.
Of late I’ve been following Independent Fashion Bloggers series on using your DSLR and it’s wonderful, I’ve truly been learning so much. But I have plenty of tips and tricks up my sleeve that I’ve learnt over the years so my next eBook may just be on this very topic!

Your dress is beautiful as well as your blog. I follow your Twitter account and clicked the link to find your blog didn’t disappoint. Really classy.
This dress really is a beauty! Did you have it shortened? The new length looks more modern without losing any of the whimsy and charm of the original style.
I need to do something about my photos – they’re awfully dark and not the best quality. I have a tripod now at least – but yeah – I have no idea how to use my camera or how it works. Magic, I assume. I’m loving the media kit book and would be interested in a Photography book too 🙂
Xx
I am hopeless at using my camera; but am on a mission to educate myself when I have the time.
I only have three tricksso far; find natural afternoon or morning light it possible, try not to use flash and breathe out when you snap to avoid bluriness. 🙂
That dress is beautiful, and I really like the use of light! 🙂
